Mrow.

Oh the things one resorted to when one was low on money and needed to figure out a way to get some but was uninclined to go out and find a real job to earn it legally. It was a good thing people around here seemed to really like cats. A seemingly hungry and neglected stray often got pity handouts of food and water and every once in awhile, someone would take said stray in and when the 'stray' was left home alone...

This was a trick Shane had used on multiple occasions. Cozy up to a likely candidate and spend a few days living as their pet only to learn where they kept things that he could sell for cash. As long as he didn't take everything he could usually get away with it without anyone reporting a burglary. That was another beautiful thing, teleporting out of a crime scene meant the place didn't look like a crime scene. And it was every so easy to slip off and let his 'owner' think he'd just run away the last time they let him out of the house.

Today was a day to find a 'new home' and he'd decided to try the park rather than campus to see if he had more options there. So he'd taken the form of an average [Only admins are allowed to see this link] and he brushed past several people, a lot of whom gave him a quick pet but otherwise ignored him. He'd kept this up until he found the young woman on whose lap he was currently curled up purring away while she read a book outside while the weather was still warm. She'd given him part of her tuna sandwich and paid a lot of attention to him. Now all he had to do was just keep acting friendly and he was on his way home, so to speak. She was just getting ready to put her books back when something happened that ruined his plans. He was twining himself around the girl's legs, mrowing when someone shouted and there was the sound of barking growing nearer. It wasn't until the dog was nearly on top of them that Shane realized the stupid brute was loose, having pulled free of his collar. With a hiss, the Fae sped off with the girl screeching behind him and trying to catch up to the shepherd dog and save her newfound pet.

If he knew he wouldn't be caught, Shane would just have teleported to safety but there were too many people around that were human. He'd give away the fact he wasn't just an ordinary cat if he did anything stupid. So he streaked across the park with the dog gaining on him and the humans falling behind. Knowing he had to do something quick, he shot up one of the spindly little trees they'd recently planted and clung to a branch for dear life, hissing and swatting at the dog's nose as it tried to get to him. Hopefully someone would come along soon and save her furry butt before he either got himself eaten by a stupid mutt or had to reveal himself as a Fae in order to save himself. He was really hoping for the first option....

Fresh air, that was something that Freya had missed at least on her own, but she understood why the Dean was still hovering, Freya had not exactly been stable. Now, well she was doing better with things, one could call it coping. At least at this point her feelings, emotions, were leveling out and she was able to breath without that weight on her chest. It was almost like she had been on drugs or something, but for now she was sober, and hoped to stay that way.

Freya couldn't tell you why she had come to the park this day, it just seemed like a good place to go away from the troubles. The fresh air and a walk would do her some good give her a chance to clear her mind and think about everything that had happened. This was a place that she had never been too, at least not with the purpose of cleaning her head.

Crossing her arms as she walked along, she looked at all the people, and some of the couples that were having a relaxing day here. It was... well it was something she wished she could do with the person she cared about but was not sure that would ever happen.

As she walked along her hands moved up and down her arms as she took in all the sights. The fae was distracted however at the sound of a barking dog and it caused her to jump back, thinking the thing was coming for her, but it wasn't. She watched as the dog ran passed her as it chased after another feline, that was scared up a tree.

Normally she wouldn't pay any mind to it, would have walked on, but something about this cat in particular caught her attention. It was something in the air, that caused the fae to breath in. It smelt... smelt familiar like... like a fae but it was a cat. raising a brow she watched as the feline clawed viciously at the dog trying to keep itself from being doggy chow. It made her chuckle softly to herself as she remembered the days of doing that when she came upon the wrong house.

Feeling some empathy for the feline fae, Freya walked over to the tree where the feline was taking shelter and grabbed the dog by the collar and pulled it off the tree. She then gave it a good swat on the behind and shooed the dog away from the tree as she pointed her finger and snapped in the direction from which it came.

Once the dog was away she turned to the feline "It's safe you can come down now. I know you can understand me." She spoke as she waited for the feline to get down from the tree. Maybe it was because she was a fae, but she could sense that this cat wasn't just your run of the mill feline.

Lucky for Shane, someone came along and sent the dog on it's way. Someone who also smelled like magic and like cat. Strange. He hadn't met very many feline fae before. But just because she'd sent the dog away and rescued him didn't mean he was just going to hop down and be buddy buddy with her. There was something more than a little strange about suddenly finding yourself face to face with someone who looked very familiar but you couldn't say where you knew them from. As far as he knew, he'd never met this woman before. So why did she look familiar?

He blinked at her when she spoke and considered simply ignoring her. Now that the dog was gone, he could just teleport out of there and try again later. He flicked his tail back and forth and after a moment looked around in a very un-catlike way to make sure no one was around. Confident that it was safe, he jumped from the tree and hit the ground on all fours in his human form. He straightened up and dusted off the knees of his ripped jeans and adjusted his shirt before facing Freya. "Thanks for the help. I owe you one for chasing that dumb brute off." He said in a very clear Irish accent (he'd been terrorizing the green isles of Irelend for the past fifty years or so), still a little wary of the girl but unwilling to take off just then. There was no harm in being polite right? Besides, he was curious about this other feline fae that looked and smelled so very familiar. "Shane O'Connell at your service." He introduced himself and held out a hand for her to shake.

This was a first for Freya, she rarely ever came across another animal shifter and never had she come across a fellow feline. It wasn't even that he was feline there was something more about this cat that just got under the Fae's skin ever so slightly. She found herself thinking back to stories of her own kind, and how they could barely stand to be around one another. It made her wonder if that was what was making her skin crawl but put it out of her mind for now.

She watched as the cat jumped and turned into a man, the was a fae alright, wolves, or shifters for that matter were always naked. "No biggy." she shrugged after sticking her hands into her back pocket. She didn't really think the lad would be sticking around after all she had no intentions on doing so until he introduced himself.

For a brief moment she just looked at his hand, wondering why he felt the need to shake hers, but she ended up pulling a hand from her pocket and taking his hand in a soft yet firm shake. "Names Freya Hellenisitc, nice to meet you." she gave a weak sort of smile as she pulled her hand away. Something about all this just wasn't sitting right with her, and she couldn't tell if it was a good or bad feeling.

"What are you?" she asked bluntly, she saw no reason to beat around the bush and lets face it she had enough issues right now she didn't need to add to them.

This chick really wasn't all that talkative was she? "Nice to meet you too Freya." If she didn't have much to say, he saw no reason to add much more to what he said. And a part of him couldn't blame her. He was curious, yes, and he liked being around people but for some reason he didn't quite want to spend more time than was necessary around Freya. It was an odd feeling really and he couldn't figure out why he felt that way. But he also wasn't going to be impolite and just scram either, even though he kind of wanted to.

"Last time I looked I was a person. I'm also a cat. And I'm a male." No, that wasn't the answer to the question she asked, exactly, but it was also all true. "But if you mean more specifically I believe I'm a Cheshire Fae, like that irritating cat in the Alice in Wonderland movie." He hadn't much liked the Cheshire cat for reasons he couldn't really explain. "What are you then? And don't go getting all 'that's not polite' or whatever. You asked me first." He told her, leaning against the tree and giving her a curious look.

For some reason, Freya felt the need to be territorial around this guy. This city had been her home for over 250 years and she wasn't about to let some other feline come in and take it away from her. Not that he could, Freya had succeeded in making an outcast of herself all on her own but she still had this urge to stake her claim on this place. His witty comeback wasn't helping her with that feeling either.

"I know what a Cheshire fae, is I don't need an explanation." Her tone was calm but there was a hint of sass in it. Though now she understood why she felt so uneasy around him, it was because he was like her and she didn't like it. She liked being the only Cheshire fae in this area, and it was her town she'd fight him for it if she had to. God, now she knew why she didn't know her parents, just being around this ass hat made her want to kill him and she barely knew his name.

"Well judging by the fact that I have tits I would go as far as to say that I am a female, at least most of the time. But if you must know, I am a fae.... a Cheshire fae." Her voice got a little dark, territorial as she spoke the kind of fae that she was. She reminded herself to just breath, she was finally on the dean's good side and she didn't want to mess that up by getting in a cat fight with someone in the open.

"And this is my town, and has been for over 200 years so don't think you are just going to waltz in here causing problems." She was protective, of the dean mostly, but still she didn't want him to start doing shit around here and make it so that she took the blame. No, that was not going to fly with the female fae by any means.

Shane mimicked Freya in an annoyingly high-pitched voice as she all but yelled at him for explaining what he was. It was one of the reasons the werewolves hadn't liked him much. A lack of respect for authority wasn't something they tended to appreciate. "And I was just supposed to know you didn't need an explanation was I? For all I knew you had no idea what a Cheshire fae was and would have looked at me like I was stupid." He huffed and crossed his arms over his chest as he spoke. There was really no need for her to get all defensive. It wasn't like he'd implied she was stupid by trying to explain. Girls were just too damn touchy about stupid things.

"Oh is that so? I completely missed the fact that you're a chick." Well, he had sort of opened the door for that response by giving it himself in the first place but that was really no reason for her to be snotty back to him right? Right. But the fact she was just like him...well...that shut him up for a moment. What did one say when one met another being like themselves when they hadn't even been sure another one existed. But even in his shocked silence, he didn't miss the territorial vibe coming off of Freya. When she spoke again he was oh so tempted to be a jerk but instead he held up his hands in a non-hostile gesture. He had no desire to get in a pissing contest with this chick. If she left him alone, he'd leave her alone. "Fine, sure, whatever. Town's yours. But that doesn't mean I'm leaving. And who said I was planning on causing trouble? You don't even know me and I don't appreciate the accusation." He glared at her a bit and left off with a shrug. "I'm just here to attend classes and learn how to be an acceptable and productive member of society. Can't fault a guy for wanting to learn right? So what do you say we call a draw. I leave you alone, you leave me alone. Everyone's happy." He suggested, considering offering her his hand to shake and thinking better of it. He didn't trust her not to teleport him into the Antarctic or something. Not that he couldn't just come back and make her life miserable anyway but still...
