[Only admins are allowed to see this image]Eliza broke through the over grown brush of the forest, limbs and leaves flew in every direction as she raced through the darkened woods. The moon held an ominous red ring, a warning, a message. The normally collected and elegant vampire raced quickly though the forest, her chocolate curly hair bouncing wildly around her with every step. A loud bang sounded behind her and crashed into the tree to her left, sending small sharp fragments of wood in every direction. Sliding to the side a small trail of dirt picked up behind her it's fine powdered dust mixing with the large trail of blood that detailed her whereabouts.

Rounding the corner, Elizabetia pressed herself tightly against a tree, her small frame somewhat hidden from view. Her small hand was pressed tightly against her left side, the fabric that was tied tightly around her waist did little to stop the rush of blood that was hemorrhaging from her side. Her chest heaved up and down though she had no use from breath. Hissing loudly she untied the knot that held the make shift bandage together and glanced at the wound. The skin around the bullet wound was now black and sizzled loudly, the bullet was lodged deep in her side making it impossible for her to use her abilities.

"You can not run vampire...I will have my revenge even if I have to track you all night." came the rustic baritone of a Russian male. Swallowing loudly she quickly tied the knot back and pushed off the tree just as another silver bullet landed right where her head had been. Eliza was not a religious person, she hadn't been for a very long time, but now would be a great time for some help. Glancing over her shoulder she caught a glimpse of her attacker, after all this time she still had those who hunter her.

The ground suddenly gave way under her feet, with a startled yelp Eliza tumbled down a steep hill, her body rolling and bouncing all the way down. She felt her arm twist in an awkward angle and something impale into her leg. Just when she thought it would never end, her body landed in a river. She let out a scream as the icy water clawed at her wounds. Several gunshots followed after her hitting the water with quick splashes. Her body was dragged under the rushing current, it's unforgiving grip tossing her back and forth. She tried to fight her way to the surface but instead the river smashed her head against one of the many bolders that occupied its waters. Her body sank effortlessly and flowed with the current until it landed in calmer waters. Dazed, Eliza managed to pull herself to shore and it was there that darkness finally took over.

Modern technology may have pulled the lycan out of his sanctuary in the woods, yet the woods were forever his home. No matter how long he lived and walked with man he always found time to retreat back into wilderness and stay lost for a week, sometimes more. Now was that time, or had it been a week ago? The days had passed without the wolf noticing.

A gunshot in the distance made his ears perk up. His blue eyes roved through the night and he lifted his chin to catch any new scents in the air. The neighboring timber wolf pack would be waiting for him to shift and join them soon, but there was something wrong. Danger lurked in the woods. It made itself present in the silence of the night, and howled in the sound of a gunshot. Every creature in the woods held still, waiting for man to retreat to his civilization. Arian stayed still with them, listening for any clue of what the threat was after.

The sound of danger was muffled out by the river. Crashing and tossing small waves as it moved, carrying something Arian thought he would never find the patience to help. The were’ quickly realized what the danger was and growled under his breath at her for bringing the hunter into the woods. It had been peaceful until she showed up. His nose twitched and his brows relaxed into an unamused expression, but he wouldn’t leave her. Not only was the scent of death evident in the air, but also the aroma of her blood. Fuck. There was not a bone mean enough in his body to leave her where she lie, motionless on the shore. The hunter was drawing nearer, but had lost track of her once she fell. Still, he traveled in the woods their way until a howl came from only a few acres away in the opposite direction. The wild wolf pack howled, calling their cousin to come and join them, or to distract the hunter they knew was in their territory. Regardless of their intent the hunter turned on his heel to go after them, but they would be long gone.

Caution tensed every muscle in Arian’s body when he approached the she-devil. He crouched near her, pushing her mangled and wet hair from her face before touching near her wound. The scent of silver made him cringe, and there was nothing he could do for her at the riverside. Instead of leaving her there to rot he scooped her petite body up and quickly headed for the cavern he called home. It was only a matter of minutes before they were there and he set her down gently beside the small fire and pulled out a pocket knife. As gingerly as he could he dug the silver bullet out, taking a few slices of black skin with it. He fished the bullet out by hand once it was near the top of her skin and growled as he threw it into the fire that crackled with the vampire’s blood. He then poured what was left of his water, or booze, whatever was left in his flask over the wound to fish out any remnants of the bullet. She was a vampire, dirt wouldn’t hurt her.

Blood still oozed from the wound and he furrowed his moved swiftly to tear the bottem of her dress. He shook it off first, then balled it up tight. The wolf then unbuttoned the flannel shirt he wore and pressed the clump he had from her dress to the wound and tied his shirt around her tightly to keep it in place. Shouldn’t she start to heal as soon as he took it out of her? Strange creature. Perhaps she was underfed. As soon as the thought crossed his mind he knitted his brows and sighed at himself. What had he gotten himself into?

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]Her skin sizzled loudly as the bullet moved through her skin, she hissed loudly but didn't open her eyes, her brain throbbed painfully against her skull. Someone had picked her up at the riverbed, but she was too exhausted to fight. Her arm and any other minor wound she had had healed itself but was still very tender. The feeling of fresh blood trickling down her side made her stomach do backflips. She honestly couldn't remember the last time she had a decent meal. With losing Sebastian, turning Anka, and helping Francesca with her man problem Eliza had lost track of herself. But the blood making it's way out of her body did little to help her growing hunger. The burning sensation intensified when something was poured on top of her wound. Her eyes shot open, her body tensing painfully at the invasion of the liquid.

"Черт возьми! *God damn it*" Eliza yelled loudly in her native tongue. Her vision was blurry but she could make out basic things, like the fire, the rough walls of the cave and the outline of...a man? No, by the smell of it a wolf. Not that she had anything against wolves, she had many friends that were wolves. It was just that wolves normally didn't take well to vampires. Swallowing the bile that threatened to rush from her throat she allowed the man to wrap something around her waist and secure it tightly. Blinking several times she tried to focus on him but to no avail, she was too tired and weak at the moment. Even with the bullet out of her body with as much blood as she lost her healing would be slowed down dramatically.

"Wh..." she cleared her throat, it was scratchy and dry. "Who are you?" it was a rough whisper that came from her lips, quite an embarassment to herself. Never in all her years had she ever looked or sounded as she had now. Elizabetia prided herself on appearances and this was one of her worst. "Why did you save me?"

The wolf wanted to punch himself for acting before he thought. A part of him wished he could press rewind and leave her at the riverside. Or at least dig out the bullet beside the river, burn his own fingers, then leave her there. When she hissed he hardly flinched, but someone smart would have recoiled. Maybe that was what was wrong with him. Maybe he was too fucking stupid from being alone for so long. He scoffed as he worked, mulling over his own thoughts.

As the injured she-devil woke he hardly looked up to her face. For the moment he was busy tying her wound to make sure she didn’t bleed out on the ground in his fine and dandy cave. It had taken him a few days to find it, and the other dug outs around weren’t as spacious. Finally he finished what he was doing and looked at her haggard face. “Stop talking.” His voice was low and smooth, carrying a faint and strange accent. “You’ll waste energy.”

From behind him the fire crackled, burning around the silver bullet. Her scent would be gone from it by now, and as soon as she left he planned on cleaning out the cave. Can’t have the musk of vampire blood around his new ho—No. When she left he would go back to civilization and live with man again. Enough was enough, he needed to go back home before he found himself hung by the hunter that treaded through the woods.

The wolf hardly glanced at her before he grabbed his knife and another torn piece of cloth and left the cave. He was gone for only a few minutes. The pack howled twice as he was gone, distant from where the vampire and lycan hid and they beckoned the hunter to follow. Part of Arian ached to go with them, but there were too many parts of him longing for different directions. Instead of giving into his wild urges he washed his knife off in the rier, then soaked the cloth in the cool water before going back to the cave. He stepped inside, kicking his boots off at the entrance in the smallest form of manners. Without a word he kneeled back down beside the vampire and pressed the cold cloth to her side to help keep the blood from flowing and hopefully aid in some pain relief.

The sound of a snap, squeal, then silence had the wolf turned to the cave opening. Coincidence gave him another key in helping the vampire and avoiding becoming her meal, and his rabbit trap outside caught her dinner. He turned to look at her, his expression unreadable before speaking. “Do you eat rabbit?”

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]Leaning her head back against the smooth surface of the cave wall she closed her eyes and winced. Not to friendly was he? Either that or he was just a man of few words. Elizabetia couldn't remember the last time she had felt so much pain, her whole body hurt. When he left Eliza took the time to look around the cavern. There wasn't much around which honestly didn't surprise her. Wolves probably didn't need much and enjoyed nature. Licking her lips she fought back the urge to get up and leave, obviously he was uncomfortable, or irritated or both. She really did hate to be a bother.

The wolf wasn't one for eye contact it would seem. She probably looked a mess. The thought made her frown, she really did hate looking a mess in front of new people. Raising her hands slowly as not to aggravate her wound and gently drew her long wet hair from her shoulders and tied it loosely at the base of her neck. Her mother always told her that appearances were key and if one looked like a mess that is how they would always remember you. Biting her lip softly she readjusted herself and curled her legs beside her.

The wolfman returned a few moments later, still refusing to look her in the eye it would seem. Lifting her arms to allow him better room to wrap the cool cloth she tilted her head slightly to the side and studied his face. He seemed attractive though a bit rough, though he appeared somewhat young his face was that of a warrior. His scent held age with it, the scent of battles long fought. "Thank you." she said softly ignoring his previous statement to stop talking. A loud snapping noise drew her attention to the front of the cave, her throat burned with hunger when he asked his question. Finally he looked at her, her dark brown eyes locking with his blue and slowly a smile spread across her lips. Gently nodding her head she chuckled, "Yes, I ate rabbit."

It would seem she didn’t want to listen to him. The wolf noticed her hair pulled back and her positioned changed. Why was she wasting energy? Never the one to bark orders he merely exhaled slowly and went to working at her side. As he studied it more he leaned back and tilted his head, admiring how lucky she had been that the hunter had poor aim. If it had only been a few inches the other way she would have been dead on the spot. Or so he thought. Though the wolf traveled vastly, he never stayed long enough near a vampire to learn about it; why not take the opportunity now?

Curiosity peaked in him and he raised a brow as he looked to meet her eyes. Would the silver in her system react like a poison, or would she be okay now? So many questions ran through his head but being a man of few words he didn’t bother to ask. “You’re welcome.” He said slowly, looking her over to examine her other wounds idly until the snap caught his attention.

Without saying anything to her response and chuckle he got up and went outside. By the time he reached the trap the rabbit was already dead (he hated the traps that left them alive – they were cruel) and he ran his hands over his face before picking the warm animal up and bringing it to her like a well trained dog. The term was brutal, but honest. His arm outstretched and he offered her the young brown rabbit. “Here. You’ll heal faster, and it tastes better than me.” Could it be? No, it wasn’t an illusion. A small smile finally cracked on his mouth. With that he set the animal down and adjusted the fire by shifting an unlit log with his boot.

“Will you be alright?” The mountain man asked, looking back at her over his shoulder as he made a pointless effort to warm her with the fire. Give the wolf a break, he was used to dealing with the living.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]His voice was strange, like a mixture of accents all rolled into one that made his voice completely different. She herself had lost her accent long ago. Wincing slightly she reached forward and took the rabbit from him, a smirk played across her lips at his comment. "I don't eat wolves." Gently rubbing the fur of the rabbit she brought it to her mouth and bit down her fangs breaking through the skin with a gentle pop. The warm crimson liquid rushed into her mouth, it took everything within her not to moan at the taste or break the poor creature to gain more. She prided herself in not acting like a wild beast even when hunger was adamant.

Her skin slowly grew more into a honey tone though still a bit pale. Her wound tingled softly signalling it's healing though it would take far longer than normal from the silver. The rabbit was quickly depleted of it's contents and Eliza reluctantly withdrew her fangs and dabbed the sides of her lips where she felt a small hint of blood. Placing the rabbit down she sighed and popped her neck loudly. Thankful to have something in her system even if it was a rabbit.

Her eyes shifted to him, now fully clear. "Yes, I'll be fine. The rabbit will give me enough strength to heal my wound and I should be out of your hands by sunrise." Though she could feel the fire it didn't warm her cool flesh, it was as if there were an invisible barrier around her never letting her skin retain warmth. She was use to it by now but she could tell the wolf was trying. It made her smile brighten to know that not all people in this world were ruffians or assholes. There were a few, not many, but some who still retained some honor. Liking her lips she readjusted her self for the last time and leaned back comfortably her hands neatly folded in her lap. "I'm Elizabetia, if you hadn't of come along I don't know what would have happened to me." Actually yes she did she would have been shot to death by a very pissed off Russian. And that was never good. She couldn't even remember who the hell he was. All she remembered what he screaming something about revenge. "You have my thanks, if there is anything I can do to repay you please feel free to ask."

Arian wasn’t sure whether or not he should have been offended by the fact that the vampire didn’t eat wolves (kidding – there was not much that could ruffle the old Norseman’s feathers.) but he took it as a good sign that he wasn’t on the menu for tonight. Though his stomach growled when she bit into the rabbit, he would just swallow back his own hunger and eat tomorrow when he finally went home. There he could make a big, juicy steak and eat enough to look pregnant for an hour or so. There were some perks about living in a place that used electricity.

Did the sun bother her, or would she have to go underground at sunrise? Curiosity sparked it’s own fire in the wolf’s blue eyes but his mouth betrayed it by staying silent. He wouldn’t ask a stranger such questions. Instead he would watch her and learn what he could in their short time together, then spy on another vampire whenever the opportunity arose again. “No rush.” He said idly and shuffled the small logs one last time then settled down on the opposite side of the cave. His bones would have heaved a sigh of relief had they had a choice. The wolf had been out all day, and it felt good to finally relax. His shoulders slumped slightly and his worn face seemed more at ease.

“You should be more careful, Elizabetia.” The words seemed stern but his voice was not. One hand lifted to rub his eyes and smooth the scruffy hair on his face. “Or try not to piss off hunters.” Another smile creased his face in the form of a smirk that reached his eyes.

The wolf readjusted himself when she mentioned repaying him, and he cocked a brow. “No thanks.” There was nothing that he wanted or needed that he couldn’t get himself. There was a hero trait buried in the wolf, and he couldn’t leave a damsel in distress. Crossing one leg over the other he finally tore his gaze from her and listened to the wolves yip and howl even further away than before. They were communicating with each other that they were safe, and it put the lycan at ease.

“How did you end up running from a hunter in that dress?” He looked at her legs, then up her body and examined the ruined dress until he looked to her dark eyes. Her warm toned skin intrigued him. How bright would she have shone if she had human blood?

[Only admins are allowed to see this image] No Rush he was a strange wolf. Normally they didn't like vampires around them let alone in their dens. She felt a little honored that he was allowing her to stay here for she knew how protective of their dens wolves were. Her brows furrowed slightly, dens normally had more wolves than just one. But from few things were here, it was fairly obvious that he was alone. Lone wolves were rare, most traveled in packs. In all her years she had only seen a handful of lone wolves and they weren't exactly friendly. "I don't suppose you'll be willing to tell me your name? Wolfman doesn't exactly sounds to pleasant." her voice was light and more relaxed as the blood slowly coursed through her system.

Elizabetia chuckled lightly, "I am very careful but even I can be surprised sometimes. As for the hunter, I honestly don't know him at least I don't remember him. I'm horrible with faces." his scent was familiar but that was about it. Eliza never killed any of her meals well there was that one time in France but this man was Russian and she hadn't been to her homeland in over five hundred years. "Oh come now, for saving my life you deserve something in return. Ask it and if it is within my power I will happily grant it." She felt a little bit like D'artagnan at those words. True she wasn't a Djinn like him but she had power and money and those two can do just about as much as magic.

Her ears picked up the sound of wolves, many said that she was strange for finding the distant howling of wolves comforting. Then again she was a strange woman to begin with. She had more supernatural friends then that of her own kind. Eliza perked up at his question, "I was at a charity event in Havelock. We were collecting money for cancer children when I stepped out for a few moments to make a call. The next thing I knew I was shot in the side and was running for my life. I couldn't exactly run back into the party and the music was so loud I don't think anyone heard it." she glanced down at the ruined remains of her dress. It had been beautiful at one time, but now was covered in dirt mud and blood. "What about you? Where is your pack?"

Animals didn’t go around introducing each other by names. They used sound, scent, and body language, not words or names. That was such a formal and human thing to do. For the longest time Arian had almost forgotten his name. He had blended into his pack, become one with the other wolves as they moved together through Europe. “Arian.” He said simply, mulling over his own memories. He didn’t bother to apologize for his lack of manners, or rather he didn’t think to say sorry. Manners were something he was still learning. “Or Ari.” Whatever she wanted to call him, as long as it wasn’t ‘mutt’.

The sound of her laugh made the wolfman perk up. His eyes light up slightly and it was obvious by his demeanor that the sound made his ears perk up. A woman’s laughter was a treat he enjoyed while living back with humans and the like. Such a dainty sound brought a faint smile to his eyes and he relaxed once again, easily slipping back into his lack-a-daisy body language. His nose twitched just once as he inhaled slowly, trying to gauge her age by her scent though it was never something he was good at. She was older, that was for sure, because younger vampires had a much more unpleasant scent. So it wasn’t a shock that she couldn’t remember the hunter if she hadn’t run into him in a long time.

Arian was a simple man, he was living in a cave. He enjoyed spending time in nature, and kept to himself. What could he possibly as for? The wolf tilted his head to the side slightly, curious at her insisting. He chewed over her offer for a few moments and knitted his brows in thought, then shook his head. “There is nothing I want or need.” Nothing that he couldn’t get for himself or that he didn’t already have. What exactly was she offering? He didn’t help her expecting something in return.

“Were you the only vampire at the charity?” Would the other vampires not have helped her? The undead were such a strange breed. If something like that had happened to a wolf his pack would have come to his aid. Vampires, on the other hand, were solitary… like cats. Weird animals.

“I… don’t have a pack.” He spoke the words slowly, trying his best not to sound sour or pained by them and instead wound up sounding unsure. If they were alive they were scattered and not in the United States. They were gone. “And the wild wolves out there,” he nodded to the cave entrance. “They’re leading your hunter away from me.”

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]"Arian..." She let his name roll on her tongue for a moment the old cogs in her head slowly turning, "Welsh origin, meaning...silver. I believe." she loved origins, the meaning of names. Funny how his name was the same thing as his weakness. Silver was toxic to both their races but unlike him she wouldn't die from it being in her system. It would slow her down causing incredible amounts of pain but not kill. "It's a pleasure to meet you Ari." she bowed her head slightly her hair began to curl from the moisture in the air. Arian wasn't a modern name, which meant he was probably older than he seemed. "If you don't mind me asking where are you from?"

She hadn't missed the look in his eyes when she laughed, the way his eyes seemed to brighten just slightly. Was he a lonely? Even the toughest of warriors still longed for company and comfort. Her lips turned into a frown slightly, she felt bad for not repaying him, call it the morals that her parents instilled in her as a child. "I don't have to repay you now, surely I'll see you again some time and if you are in need of anything then I'll gladly repay you." she nodded her head firmly her tone steady with a bit of nobility that she never seemed to rid herself of.

Eliza nodded her head slowly, " I don't know if you know this, but vampires aren't exactly known for the kindness." she whispered playfully bashing her own kind for their greed and arrogance. "I'm a stranger within my own kind. I never lost my humanity, I still cling to what I once was. I see my kind how cruel and vicious they can be. I never wanted to be like that so I choose to act more human." she had been ridiculed by others for seeming weak. But she didn't think she was, nor had Sebastian. Her eyes darkened slightly when his name flashed in her mind. As quickly as it had come she removed it and cleared her throat, "I went the charity alone. I was only invited for my donation anyway." she shrugged slightly and rubbed her side, her flesh had reknitted itself but was still tender and red with irritation.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry." she said softly bowing her head in apology. So he was a loner, and she had put the other wolves in danger for her ignorance. Groaning slightly and pushed herself off the cave floor and braced her body against the wall. "Call them back, I"ll lead him out of the woods I don't want anyone hurt." she stepped forward slowly her legs shaking from overuse. The rabbits blood was enough to heal her but not enough to replenish her strength.

Once upon a time his mother had told Arian the meaning of his name, but much like his manners he forgot the origin she had taught him. He tilted his head, then his mouth twitched into a small smile at the meaning. “How ironic.” He liked that meaning better than the original one he had been told anyway.

“All over.” Good answer, Ari boy. The wolf wasn’t used to people asking him questions. Usually he was the loner in the bar, or the quiet man in the hardware store picking up things to fix what he had tinkered with. “Originally Sweden, then I traveled most of my life.” He left out the fact that he had traveled as a wolf, not as a man. She didn’t need to be bored with that.

The wolf couldn’t quite understand why she felt the need to repay him. He said no, wasn’t that good enough? Wolves worked as a pack. They looked after each other. She had been in danger in his temporary territory, and he looked after her. Was he supposed to get a present for that? Maybe she should have just caught him a mouse and left it at the doorstep like cats often did (better make it a moose – he was hungry). Rather than argue, he let her have the last word and distracted himself by fixing the tie that held his hair back.

In a way Elizabetia was a lone wolf as well. Strange to her own kind, and she didn’t seek their comfort when she needed it. Funny how her outlook wound her up in a cave with an actual lone wolf. The wolfman said nothing, but his expression showed how much she interested him. He examined her face, reading her eyes as if they were telling him her life story when she spoke, but his mouth stayed silent.

Before he could think to speak she was on her feet. He stood up quickly, his hands out incase she stumbled or fell back to the ground. “Stop.” The wolf spoke firmly. “Sit down.” What did she think she was doing? “They’re healthy and smart animals. You’re crippled.” He gave her a knowing look and reached to touch her side gently to make sure his bandaging stayed in place. “They’ll trick him long enough to keep him away and then disappear.” That’s why the howling had ceased for a few minutes. If they were really in trouble they would have spread out and howled from all ends of the forest. As a motion to keep her in place Arian stepped to the side and firmly stood in her way so she couldn’t go out the cave entrance and watched her firmly. “Now sit down.” Oh, right… manners. “Please.”

[Only admins are allowed to see this image] She groaned slightly as her weight started to push her down. "Yes but I have put them in danger coming here. And I am not crippled." though she tried to retain her noble tone it was weighed down by her slowly diminishing strength. She felt her ribs shift when he touched her side, earning him a soft hissing noise. Slowly lowering herself back to the floor she sighed heavily, she knew that should wouldn't make it three feet out the entrance of the cave before falling flat on her face. That would only make her feel worse than she already did. Sighing heavily Elizabetia retook her seat and fought the urge to vomit. Pain was not her friend. She may be a vampire but she didn't take pain well at all. She was sissy vampire.

Elizabetia hated being a burden on anyone. She was use to helping people and them coming to her for help not the other way around. It made her feel weak and that was something she was not a friend of. Her dark eyes stared out at the entrance listening to the distant calls of the wolves of the wild. There were a few distant gun shots but no scent of blood in the air. "Well, what shall we do then if you will not allow me to leave? Shall we play twenty questions?" she was half joking half serious. He seemed like a man of few words, as proof of his answer to her question of where he was from.

She had lost her phone somewhere within the chase, if she had kept it she could possibly call Francesca to get her...then again maybe not. She didnt know the woman's views on wolves and the last thing she wanted was to start something that could be avoided. Maybe after a good nights rest she would be able to leave in the morning. There's no way that idiot hunter would stay in the woods all night just to track her. Especially with a forest full of wolves and god knows what else. "Tell you what, since we're stuck here, might as well get to know each other. " She would never admit she was curious about the wolfman, but while they were just sitting around might as well converse together.

How could she think she could outrun a hunter? Surely sending her out there now would be a death sentence to the poor girl. He gave her a knowing look and smirked. “Cripple.” There was no way he would let her out. From the smell of her she smelled old, but Arian was much older than he seemed. Besides, what was the cripple going to do against him?

Relieved that she slid back down and didn’t argue more he offered her a curt smile. He moved some things around his cave, idly keeping himself busy to stay awake and focus away from hunger. When she prodded for entertainment he looked at her with a heavy but short log in hand. What did she want to know? He simple scoffed, shook his head and tossed the log into the fire to keep her warm. Lot of good it was doing, he knew, but it was the thought that counted.

Gunshots in the forest made the wolf freeze to listen. He lifted his chin towards the entrance, inhaling slowly and listening like a dog on guard. A low growl rumbled for a brief moment in his chest but was quickly subdued as he went to sit against the wall. It wasn’t clear whether he was growling at the hunter for chasing the wolves, or the possibility of him coming back to hurt Elizabetia. He didn’t want to waste the energy saving her only to lose in the end.

Instead of asking what she wanted to know, which would have been the gentlemanly thing to do, Arian chose to go first. He turned to look at her, a quizzical expression on his face. “What sort of donation were you giving to the cancer children?” It couldn’t be a normal question could it?

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]Well at least he was more friendly now. Even if he was calling her a cripple. She wasn't crippled she was just...momentarily delayed. The cave had become rather warm now, though it did nothing heat her skin. It had been deadly cold for over five hundred years but it was sweet that he was trying to keep her comfortable. It was nice to know chivalry wasn't dead.

"I had a new hospital built and donated a rather large sum of money to get it started." There were a lot of rich assholes there they mainly donated just to keep up appearances. They smiled they mingled but they didn't truly care. It made her a bit unhappy with humanity. How greedy and cruel they really were. "I'm also an investor in the Aeternitas University in town. I have two fledglings that currently reside there."

Tilting her head slightly she thought of what to ask him in return, "How old are you exactly? Your scent holds a lot of history, and your very different from other wolves, so you must come from a different era." Untying the make shift bandage she gently moved the torn fabric of the dress and looked at her wound. The flesh was healed but still had a gray hue to it from the silver. She tossed the ruined fabric into the fire and watched as it burned. "Someone like you hold a sense of misplacement as if you don't belong in this era."

“Why do you have so much money to donate?” Vampires always seemed to have their hands on a pot of gold. Arian had plenty of money, but not enough to make him disgustingly rich or enough to be an investor. It was just enough that he thought he could live comfortably, since he was a minimalist and never spent much of it. (In reality he had plenty – he just didn’t really care either way when it came to spending dough).

“Are your fledglings like you?” Old fashioned and proper? The wolf had known her for less than a few hours and he already could sense how proper and lady-like she was. It almost made him embarrassed for being such an animal and living in a cave – almost.

“You’re one to talk.” It wasn’t meant as rude. “You smell aged, like some sort of fine wine.” Vampires didn’t age in the sense like humans did. Their scents merely changed, but never for the worse. It was the younger undead that stunk. “I can’t remember how old I am. My father was a Viking. I traveled-,” As he started to open up she unraveled the bandage and the tone of her skin caught his attention and curiosity. The young looking man leaned forward, sitting up a bit but not moving from the ground. His mellow attitude proved he obviously wasn’t the ‘alpha’ type, but left him misplaced when it came to lycan roles. Most didn’t care if someone outside their pack was hurt. Most didn’t care about anyone but themselves and the pack was lucky enough to come in a far fetched second place. “Does it still hurt?” It didn’t look painful, but he wasn’t sure how vampires felt pain.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]She chuckled lightly stretching her arms high above her head but wincing slightly as the newly formed skin shifted uncomfortably. "Over the years I have collected many things, antiques, jewelry, paintings, things like that and I have kept them in excellent shape. Also my family has been nobility since I can remember, even my great great great great nephew became Czar of Russia." she brushed her now dry curly hair away from her face. It was such a tangled mess when she didn't straighten it. Thank goodness for modern technology without it her hair would be a wild curly bush.

"No, unfortunately not. My oldest is...well...a hellion, she doesn't respect anyone but me and that's only because I put my foot down on a lot of things, then there's my newest one Anka. She's...well...let's just say things didn't work out as well as I had planned." the only reason she turned Anka was because of the accident. She had promised the girl she could make her better....stronger...fix things that were broken. But it didn't fix her, she was still paralyzed from the waist down. In all her years Eliza had never made a promise she couldn't keep and yet this beautiful girl walks in and everything changed.

"You can also say I have a thing for blonds, all my fledglings are beautiful blond hair blue eyed women. There's something about them that I find interesting." Gently taking one of her curls between her fingers she smiled sadly, "My brothers were all blond and blue eyed. I was the only one that came out...like this. Normal, nothing special." she looked up at him and gasped softly a faint blush rushing to her cheeks, "Oh goodness, I..." she rubbed the back of her head softly, "I just made myself sound like a crazy person. Just ignore the last thing I said."

When he spoke she listened, gasping mockingly at his joke. Though it was the first time she had been compared to wine that was for certain. So a Viking...yes she could see it. Clad in armor with a hammer in one hand and shield in the other. With a war cry as he galloped into battle with his weapon held high. It would have been a sight to see if she were not half way across the continent being auctioned off like cattle marry for land or power. Though she had read the tales of Viking battles it was not the same as actually living it. She hadn't failed to notice his interest in her wound, lowering the fabric she ran the tips of her fingers over the flesh, "Good as new, still a bit tender but...give it a couple of hours and it won't even seem like I have been hurt." Such a curious creature, more like a cat than that of a wolf.

As an outsider Arian enjoyed observing people in towns, but never questioned them or stayed long enough to learn much about them. Elizabetia was different. She kept his interest and answered his questions enough to spark curiosity in him that would stick and continue to linger for days, he was sure of it. “Interesting.” Was his only choice of words in response to her story. They had come from very, very different worlds and being stuck together in a cave was a bit ironic.

“Things never seem to work out as planned, but can sometimes change for the better.” Take these two for instance. She hadn’t planned to be chased into the woods by some moronic hunter, nor saved by a lycan of all creatures. Yet here they were. It was most definitely an improvement from the listless, calm night Arian had in mind. “You certainly were not in my plans.” Was he admitting she made his night better? If she wanted to take it as such. There was some chivalry in him after all,

The wolf tilted his head to the side once again and crinkled his nose just a bit. Nothing special? She was a vampire. All vampires, though dead, were beautiful. The way their skin shone no matter how pale, or the way their eyes seemed like a poet’s description of color. He shook his head idly and scratched at his facial hair. “You’re beautiful. All vampires are.” She most likely hadn’t been plain as a human either, but Arian wasn’t one to lather with compliments so he left it at that.

The aloof wolf was glad when she let the subject floating around him drop. He didn’t want to delve into his past, especially with a stranger. She would become bored with his rambling on about traveling as a pack (let’s face it, his idea of rambling on would be a far fetch from her idea). He gazed at her skin, mesmerized by the way it healed so quickly on something as simple as rabbit blood. The only thing that pulled him out of his small trance was a wolf’s yip in the far distance and the eerie silence that followed after. He straightened up and stood, quietly walking to the cave entrance. He turned to the fire and used a small bucket of water to put it out then stepped on the remaining sizzling log. One finger lifted to his mouth to motion the vampire to be quiet. The pack had fallen silent, and the smell of the hunter grew stronger. Fuck. He was coming back.

“Come on.” Within seconds Arian was scooping Elizabetia up into his arms and hurrying out of the cave. The hunter was just out of sight as the wolf darted through the woods, wishing he could have shifted and carried her like a young pup somehow. Instead he ran, stealthy and as silent as possible through the woods to get her as far away from the hunter as possible.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]Eliza could have swore she felt the sudden rush of blood to her cheeks causing a light blush to illuminate her pale flesh. Even if he added in the last bit of all vampires being beautiful, she still felt good knowing someone found her beautiful. It had been a very long time since someone had told her so, nearly two hundred years. It made her all tingling on the inside so she couldn't help but smile brightly at him. "Well...thank you Arian." He wasn't so bad looking himself but she wouldn't say anything, it would only make her look like a babbling idiot.

Eliza's head snapped towards the entrance at the sudden yelp. An eery silence soon fell upon them, Eliza's eyes flashed a dangerous ruby red as the scent of the hunter grew near her throat burned with hunger for the blood the rushed through his veins. The rabbit had helped her, but the human would heal her completely. Arian dozed the fire quickly, sending a billowing line of smoke into the air. Eliza's eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness. She let out a started gasp as she was scooped into the males arms. Instantly his scent washed over her making her feel a little light headed from their closeness. He took off out of the cave just as the hunters scent was upon them.

Two gun shots whirled pass them embedding deeply into the tree to their right. If there ever was a time she wished she were a magical being it would be now. The hunter cursed loudly and followed suit reloading his gun as he ran. "He just never gives up does he?!" Eliza whispered against Arian's neck, her thin arms wrapped loosely around them to keep herself up. Lucky for them he was a bad shot.

This was why he avoided women. They were nothing but trouble, and even if they weren’t trouble they attracted it like flies to shit. The hunter most likely wasn’t after her because she was a female, but he wasn’t letting up any! The wolf darted through the woods. His strong legs carrying them as fast as he could, which was much quicker than the hunter but not his bullets. As one rang past Arian he jumped while running, cursing vehemently. “Oh, fuck!” What a gentleman, aye?

It wasn’t long before a howl shot through the woods nearby and the sound of padded feet mingled with the sound of Arian’s own rang through the woods. It threw the hunter off to think that the lycan had a pack since he had yet to figure out that the wolves that ran were simply gray wolves. A howl here, then another one to the left and a few yips to communicate with one another slowed the hunter down enough for Arian to get ahead.

Thinking quickly on his feet Arian made nearly a ninety degree turn and skidded on his heel. There was a very, very small cave. A divot underneath a tree really, or an old wolf den. He tossed her in, then jumped in within a second. It was so tight there was hardly room for both of them and he positioned himself over her, stifling his breath to wait out the hunter. He pressed against her, looking to the den entrance over his shoulder as he held perfectly still though his heart drummed strongly and quickly in his chest. The pack confused the Russian and after a few tantalizing minutes his footsteps grew fainter and fainter, and soon he was gone.

Now the hard part was getting unstuck from the den. Arian shifted, his shoulders hitting the roots caked with dirt and he lowered his head a bit and laughed quietly. “I’m stuck.” He grunted, then managed to crawl backwards out of the den cautiously and awkwardly, dirt falling gently around both of them. It was a good thing vampires couldn’t get infections in their wounds.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]Arian's outburst caused Eliza to jump and tighten her grip around his neck, her dark eyes narrowing slightly at the hunter who followed them. Oh if he wasn't wolf food by the end of the night, when Eliza got her strength back she was gonna make him into a skinned rug. Eliza heard the wolves communicate with each other though she didn't understand them. Part of her wished she could understand them, they worked so well together, like a family. Vampires were solitary creatures, very few actually kept in a clan. She tried to keep those she made with her but they soon left to go out on their own. Leaving her alone once more, she sometimes wished for a pack like a wolf to belong in. But it was only wishful thinking.

His sudden shift in weight caught her off guard as well as the sudden toss in the rather small wolves den. Eliza froze completely when he hovered above her. Her hand pressed firmly on his chest. Oh this was very awkward no one had ever been this close to her except Sebastian. She swallowed hard, her acute hearing listening to the rushed rhythmic patterns of his heart beating in his chest. The drumming of his blood rushing through his veins. Her eyes followed up to his face, completely entranced by it's features. No...snap out of it Eliza there is a crazed human out there who wants you dead. Now is not the time to be thinking of the Viking between your legs. Oh bad choice of words there, her mind was being so dirty tonight. It was the lack of blood or at least that made her feel better...sorta.

The hunters scent and footsteps finally grew distant until they were out of hearing range. But when she thought things couldn't get more embarrassing....I'm stuck came out of the Vikings mouth. Her eyes widened slightly as she turned her face away to try and hide her blush. Dirt fell around her from his movements. Here she was, in the dirt, on her back in the middle of the forest with a wolf between her legs. God if someone saw her she would die of embarrassment. Never in her life had she been in such an embarrassing position least of all with a man she had barely known for more than an hour.

Finally Arian managed to make his way out of the cramped little wolves den, and Eliza soon followed suit. Standing slowly as not to wear herself out she dusted off her dress and hair, her curls falling wildly around her face. "I must thank you again Arian. That would be twice now you've saved my life. You just keep adding up favors it seems." she said jokingly leaning against the tree next to her. Her cheeks were still red from their position and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't make it go away. "Hopefully he'll leave. If and when I ever get out of this forest I'll be sure to send him a nice little present." by that she meant her teeth sinking deep into his jugular vein. "Please thank your friends for me. I know they must not like me very much but I am truly grateful for their help."

Maybe if Arian hadn’t been raised as a wolf he would have found their position uncomfortable, but very little embarrassed the wolf. He didn’t take much consideration of people’s personal space or what was and was not appropriate, especially in the moment’s of helping her. The blush went unnoticed for the moment, he was too busy looking back over his shoulder then shuffling out of the den. Damn his broad shoulders.

Once outside he brushed his hair out, then dusted his shoulders off and resisted the urge to shake like a wet dog. She seemed too proper to act much like a wolf in front of, so he’d keep up his human appearance and habits.

“Stop attracting trouble.” The wolf spoke firmly but smiled after to show he was kidding. He listened briefly to make sure the Hunter was headed in the other direction, then moved closer to Elizabetia and touched the small of her back. “C’mon, we need to move before he comes back.” He looked her over, trying to gauge if she should be carried or not. “Can you walk?” If not it wouldn’t be hard to carry her. “My truck is mile northwest,” He nodded in the direction civilization was (after some driving of course). “I could take you to the city.” So the wolfman wasn’t primitive after all.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]If only she could. Danger seemed to be attracted to her like flies to honey. No matter how much she tried to stay out of it it always seemed to sneak up on her again, first with Anka now with the crazed Russian hunter. And now because of her she had gotten one of the wolves hurt. She leaned forward slightly, cautiously taking small steps to test her legs. They shook slightly under her weight from over use and lack of nourishment but for the most part she could walk on her own. "Yes, we'll just have to take it slow." If he was as bad a tracker as he was a shot they should be fine.

She didn't want to be any more of a burden than she always was to Arian. She shouldn't have to rely on him. She was a five hundred year old vampire for heavens sake. With every step she was able to increase her pace until she was walking at a normal speed even if her body was telling her not to. The forest was eerily quiet as the two supernatural creatures made their way towards the vikings truck. The female vampire could really use a bath about now. "As much as I enjoy a wonderful stroll the forest the city would be a much welcome sight after this evening long and exciting events."

Though she couldn't say that the entire evening was as horrible as it could have been. She could have died instead of being saved by Arian. Then again they weren't out of the woods yet, (no pun intended). As they continued forward the woods grew more and more quiet. There was no sound, no crickets chirping, no nightly animals scurrying about. The hairs on Eliza's neck stood on end, as if waiting for something to happen. The wolves truck came into sight, and Eliza's head tilted slightly to the side, she had never rode in one of these before. Her eyes silently scanned the area for any danger, though she saw none there was still something in the back of her mind screaming for her to turn and run

The wolf seemed glad though apprehensive that she could walk on her own. He kept his hand at the small of her back until he was sure she had her footing about her. His blue eyes watched her warily until they began to move quicker through the silent forest. Not a single creature made a sound, which alarmed the wolf. It was usually a nightclub of sounds around him as the creatures trusted yet another creature rather than a man. It made him walk faster and every muscle in his body tensed. The hunter had gone the other way… hadn’t he?

Once his truck was in view he felt his body for his keys, patting his chest then down to his butt until he found two keys in his back pocket. Really, how had he not lost these yet? Danger loomed in his chest and he froze to take in the air’s scent. Too many scents mixed here and he wasn’t sure what was here and what was old. No animal sounds made the hair on the back of his neck raise and he stepped towards his older black truck with caution.

Out from the woods finally a creature moved. A younger gray wolf, a silver little female limped out of the woods. Her comrades had left her to hide since she had been the one wounded. Her back left flank was matted with blood and she whimpered, her tail limp behind her as she looked to Arian. “She’s hurt.” He muttered and walked towards her, his hand out to touch her snout as he walked behind her to look. The she-wolf was obviously comfortable with Arian, but watched the vampire with wary eyes that were slow to trust. Soon she layed down, but Arian was quick to scoop her up like he had done Elizabetia. “It seems I have two wounded women to take home.” He smirked back at Eliza and moved quickly but gently to put the silver wolf in the bed of his truck. A low sound rumbled in his chest, then a rare whine slipped from him to comfort her. The hunter would be saved for another night, but Arian would surely come back for him.

Once in the truck he unlocked the doors and started it up. It wheezed and rumbled like old trucks did, then the lights flicked on and he began backing out of the woods and to the road. Civilization could not come fast enough, but the wolf didn't bother to ask Eliza where she lived. He didn't even think to ask.

[Only admins are allowed to see this image]When the wounded wolf limped out of the forest Eliza's heart dropped. She had ended up getting one of them hurt. The scent of blood hit her hard, making her stomach do multiple flips. Quickly closing her eyes that started to turn a deadly shade of red she counted backwards from ten bit down on her lip to calm the thirst the scratched at her throat. After a few moments the hunger died down enough that her eyes returned to their normal color. Eliza looked at the wounded animal and bowed her head in acknowledgement. She knew better than to approach her without being recognized as a friend or foe.

Eliza nodded slowly and opened the door to the truck, she wasn't use to riding in the front of anything really. So this was new experience. Bucking the seat belt she looked over her shoulder at the wounded wolf in the bed of the truck her lips pulled into a thin frown. She shouldn't have come into the forest, she should have ran back into the building or at least tried to fight him. Guilt ate at the vampire, she hated putting others in danger that included others of another species. The mighty roar of the truck springing to life snapped Eliza out of her musings. Turning back around she looked out the window of the truck as it made its way back onto the main road. There was still a nagging feeling somewhere in the back of her mind that she couldn't quiet shake. And while she wanted nothing more than to release a sigh of relaxation, the vampire kept looking over her shoulder out the back of the window.

After a few moments Eliza turned back around and took in a deep breath. Suddenly another engine rattled in her ears. Looking behind her once more a mighty black truck swerved out of the forest, two bright white head lights shinning brightly at them. Her lips peeled back with a feral hiss, seems as if the hunter wouldn't quit until his heart stopped beating. The large black truck came up beside Arian's ramming hard into it's side trying to send it back into the forest. Eliza's side of the truck rubbed angrily against the railing of the road that guarded cars from falling over the steep hill into the darkened forest. Unclicking her seat belt Eliza pulled open the small window on the back of the truck easily slipping her slender body through the medium sized window.

The hunter sloppily shot two shots into the bed of the truck missing Eliza and the she-wolf. Bending down she gently picked up the wounded animal keeping her head low. She apologized softly to the animal and gently pushed her through the hole of the window before slamming it back into place. The hunters truck slammed roughly into the side of Arians pick up causing the railing to fly off it's posts with a loud snap. Eliza's dark orbs locked with the hunters and with one more ram the truck's back wheels slid off the road dragging the car down the steep hill and into the forest. Eliza was thrown out of the bed of the truck landing several feet away from where the vehicle rolled down the hill until it came to a sudden and rough stop.

Eliza's body landed with a sickening thud, the ground beneath her cracked with the impact. The vampires head hit hard on the forest floor, her vision became blurry and her hearing muffled. It was a good thing she didn't breathe, for she could feel something sharp piercing her lungs. "A...ri...an..." she whispered breathlessly weakly rolling over to her side a wooden limb protruding from her mid section. There were not enough words to describe how much pain she was in, how much she wanted to embrace the darkness that pulled at the corners of her mind beckoning her to sleep. To rest if only for a moment. But she couldn't not until she knew Arian was safe and that hunter was dead. No one hurt what was hers...and as far as she was concerned Arian was now someone she was willing to protect.
