New Girl Old Memories

There was something different in the air today and Claire could feel it. What she felt was somehow oddly familiar but Claire couldn't tell why. She had been sitting in Oliver's classroom, listening to his latest lecture on Greek Mythology, but she couldn't seem to focus. She was trying to listen so that she could give him insight for his class but she just wasn't really paying attention 'Claire.... Claire! are you even paying attention?' Oliver waved his hand in front of Claire and soon she snapped out of it and looked to him clearing her throat. "I'm sorry, just not all here today I guess." She spoke but turned her attention back to him.

'It's okay, go get some air you look like you could use it.' he replied with a chuckle and gave her a soft pat on the shoulder. Oliver had only ever seen Claire like that once so he knew what was going on with her, he just didn't say anything. "Ya, Okay... I'll be back to listen to your lecture though I promise." She gave him a reassuring smile before standing up from his desk. 'Don't worry about it, I'm sure the students here won't mind an wizards rambles.' he spoke as he waved her off with a shooing sound. He knew that Claire wouldn't be back until much later in the day, far after his classes were over.

"Thanks, I owe you one." She smiled before she walked out of his classroom and made her way down the hall.

As she was walking, a familiar scent hit her nose and it caused the wolf to bring her head up quickly and look around. That scent.... she knew that scent but it was one she had not smelled in a long time.

Without even realizing it she had already started to follow the source of the scent. It was so early though, that Claire figured that the trail would have to be something old from the night before, but she followed it anyways and that was when she ended up at the nurses station.

Taking in a deep breath of the scent Claire closed her eyes for a moment as her hand came to rest on the door. It was in that moment that she knew who it was... Vanessa. How long had it been since they saw one another? 10 years at least, and Claire knew that she hadn't changed a bit, but would Vanessa notice? If Claire recalled correctly, Vanessa knew nothing of the nonhumans, and wondered if it was still that way.

Before going into the office, Claire knew she needed an excuse, after all it wasn't like she could just be like.... oh hey I followed your scent. She pushed the door to the nurses office open once she had something in mind and walked into the room. "Kristine are you here?" She called out for the vampire nurse, whom Claire knew wasn't in the office yet but it was better then calling out for Vanessa right?

Claire wasn't nearly as prepared to see Vanessa again as she thought she would be. The moment that she saw the woman walk out from her office, the memories just came rushing back in her head. It caused the wolf to unknowingly place a hand upon her stomach from where she had been shot. The wound was long sense gone and there wasn't a hint of pain, but it had been a scar that Claire had actually wanted to keep but it faded like all the others.

A smile swept over her lips as Vanessa looked up and saw her, the wolves's hands came up and a look of surprise came over her face. "Vanessa? Oh my god, I can't believe you're here." She spoke with a bit of a happy little chuckle. Claire really couldn't believe that it was Vanessa but man she was glad that she had not forgotten the woman's scent after all these years.

"I work here, I'm a guard for the dean.... but what are you doing here?" She asked as she spoke as she walked over and placed her hands on Vanessa's shoulders before giving her a hug. "It's so good to see you, why didn't you tell me you were taking on a new job in your last email?" She asked in a curious manner before making a sound that sort of disregarded her question and gave the woman a hug. God, it was not to have a friendly face in this place after so long.

Claire couldn't help but to breath in Vanessa's scent, which seemed to calm that inner beast of her's. The whole walk here, her wolf had been eager to get out if only to track the scent, but now it seemed at ease which Claire was glad about. The last thing Claire wanted was to be the way that Vanessa learned about the inhuman world. "I live here, with my friend Oliver.. umm remember the guy who came to pick me up from your place?" she almost slipped and said that she had lived here for the last hundred years but quickly caught herself.

"That's great, I know Kristine could really use the help. You'll like her, she's a little socially awkward but a good person." Claire smiled as she tucked some hair behind her ears. Wow, it was a whole new feeling inside the wolf, seeing Vanessa again. She couldn't wait till they could sit down and catch up some more but for now she would settle with a light conversation before they had to get back to work. "Ya, that was crazy, but me and the other guards managed to get everything under control." Claire wasn't going to say how exactly but just wanted to assure Vanessa that it was all under control now.

Claire found herself holding Vanessa close, and letting her head rest against Vanessa's for a moment, feeling completely at ease. That was the first time she had felt that way in a very long time, but she managed to let Vanessa go when the nurse stepped back. "Sorry to hear about Robert." Claire gave a sympathetic look as she slipped her hands into her back pocket. Truth be told Claire never liked the guy, every time she read emails with his name the wolf in her growled out. It was clear to Oliver that Claire had become very protective over Vanessa but Claire had yet to admit that to herself.

"Don't let her get to you, she's nice. Just do your job and you wont have and issues." Claire let go of a slight chuckle, because a lot of people here seemed to be intimidated by the dean, but Claire wasn't. Maybe it was her age, or the fact that Evelyn had actually summoned her because the dean was impressed but Claire liked her well enough. "Are you doing anything later? Maybe we could get some dinner or something. Oliver wont be home till late, you could come to our place for dinner if you want." She thought it wouldn't hurt to ask, plus it would give them time to catch up.

Claire couldn't help but to chuckle lightly when stitches were brought up, if only because the wolf had some not long ago. Some times that was part of the job though but Claire was rather used to them. "You did great with the stitches, so much so I never even got a scar." She smiled lightly, because it was partly the truth, her healing abilities had made it so she had no scar but no need to get technical.

Hearing Vanessa grunt about Robert, made the wolf in her want to growl. Claire wondered what he had done, and if she needed to go on a little hunting trip of her own. She refrained from letting out a wolfish growl "Is there anything I can do?" She asked in a concerned manner, she was feeling extremely protective and would do whatever it took to make sure that Robert didn't bother Vanessa again. Though Claire had to remind herself to remain calm in the presence of Vanessa so not to give away the wolf that Claire hid within, last thing she wanted was to scare Vanessa.

A smile swept across her lips as Vanessa agreed to dinner, "That's great, if you want I could pick you up around lets say seven?" She asked in a curious manner as she took the piece of paper and slipped it into her pocket. She returned the hug without incident, but when she went to kiss Vanessa's cheek, her inner wolf had other plans in mind. Instead of kissing Vanessa's cheek, she ended up kissing Vanessa on the lips instead.

When Claire realized what she had done she quickly pulled her head back. "Oh god.. I... I didn't..." Claire couldn't believe she had just done that, she had never really even thought of Vanessa that way, at least not knowingly. The wolf was in a slight state of shock that she had just done that, so much so she could really finish her sentence.

Claire did not know what was going on with her, she was never this... whatever this was. She always kept a calm clear head, focused, she took pride in that but for some reason with Vanessa here all of that was like... gone. The wolf felt almost like she was falling apart at the seems and she didn't know why and the fact that her inner wolf was so anxious to get out was... rather scary really.

'Or I could rip out his throat, then he defiantly wouldn't be bothering you.' the wolf thought to herself, and actually hungered to be able to do so. Claire was feeling that damn protective at the moment, and if she knew where the man was she would go on the hunt too.

The kiss had only been another sign to Claire of just how protective she had become over Vanessa, because when it was dismissed as just an accident, it hurt and Claire didn't know why. It wasn't like she had actually intended to kiss the nurse but it had felt right in that moment.

A smile did come back to Claire's lips though when Vanessa said that seven would be fine, that at least meant she hadn't ruined things. "Okay, great, seven okay, I'll be here." She spoke as she stepped back towards the door. She didn't want to get in the way of Vanessa and her work, and now she had to rush home to make sure it was clean and then talk to Oliver because well that was really the only person she had to talk to about things.

Claire's head had been swimming all day, and at some point she managed to return and have a long talk with Oliver. He always been a great deal of support for Claire and always helped to clear her head. It was his reassurance that helped Claire stay calm and he even gave her a necklace to help control her inner wolf, that seemed to be aching to get out for one reason or another. The last thing that Claire wanted was for the wolf to come out and attack Vanessa, but little did Claire know that was the last thing that her wolf actually wanted.

Before going to pick Vanessa up, Claire had cleaned the place she shared with Oliver and got dressed in a simple black button up shirt and a pair of jeans. She didn't get why she was so nervous it wasn't like this was a date, it was just meeting up with an old friend... one that she had kissed. Claire tried not to focus on that later part as she walked to go and meet Vanessa.

The wolf must have checked her neck half a dozen times for that necklace that Oliver gave her. fingers played lightly with the wolf charm that hung from the chain as she got closer. 'Please behave, she can't find out what I am.' she was talking to her inner wolf in her head, who was restless but the charm kept the wolf at bay... for now.

Walking up to the door, Claire brought her hand up and knocked lightly. She felt like she was meeting Vanessa for the first time, or like it was a blind date or something, she was so nervous. She chewed on her lip as she waited for Vanessa to answer the door, what the hell was wrong with her today?

Claire gave a smile as Vanessa opened the door, and well she couldn't help but to run her eyes from Vanessa's feet on up and damn, Vanessa looked absolutely beautiful. "Take your time." She spoke as she stepped into the doctor's home and did her best not to snoop to much, though the pictures did catch the wolf's attention. It was hard for them not to with the picture of her and Vanessa being in the center of the whole display.

She stood there with her hands behind her back as she waited for Vanessa to finish up. "You look great, really you don't have to change." She replied, as the wolf tried to go into more of a professional state of mind as that would make this all go over a little better, especially with the necklace that Oliver had given the wolf to give her some more control.

"Sounds wonderful, I haven't had Moscato in awhile, actually I think the last time I had it was when we met." Claire replied with a soft chuckle, then again Claire wasn't one who usually drank a lot if only because it was hard to get a wolf drunk, and well bad things happened when she was drunk so best not to drink.

"Are you ready? My place isn't to far from here." She asked as she motioned to the door with her hand. Claire still had to cook, but they could always eat late, it wasn't like Claire had any other plans tonight.

Claire had noticed that bashful smile and it made her wolf spin in delight on the inside. She kept her composure though and followed Vanessa over to the door "I'm only speaking the truth." the wolf spoke and waited outside the door. Out of habit she took in all of the scents in the area, if only to know who and what was around so she knew that the doctor would be safe at all times.

She had to fight back a very animalisitic growl from escaping her throat when she found out that Vanessa had been robbed in the past. It made the wolf in her want to go on the hunt, but instead is all Claire did was clear her throat. "I's very sorry to hear that, but I can assure you this town is safe, I highly doubt anyone would steal from you." Claire spoke in a reassuring manner, and in her mind saying that she would rip out the throat that even touched Vanessa's things without her permission.

As they walked along, Claire kept her hands behind her back and stayed on high alert just in case something came along. She felt so defensive right now, like she was Vanessa's guard of sorts but she wasn't but that was how she felt.

Because she was so on alert she didn't think to speak, because she never spoke when she was on the job because it was a distraction but she looked to Vanessa when she asked about a companion and shook her head no softly. "No, I haven't had a relationship in a long time, I haven't been with anyone in a long time. I just haven't found the right person." Claire shrugged lightly, she knew that her soul mate was out there, she just didn't know who it was, but with the way her wolf was acting she would have sworn it was Vanessa, but it couldn't be Vanessa was human.

"What about you? has anyone caught your eye since you got here?" Claire was curious, if anything she wanted to know if the person was worth it, if not she would see to it that the person went running in the other direction.

Claire knew that she had a soul mate out there, it was the way of the wolf, but Vanessa didn't need to know that right now. Instead Claire just smiled and chuckled lightly. "You have more faith in that then I do." She replied, because it had been over one hundred years since that connection was made with the wolf in the fog and it had still not shown up, so Claire had somewhat lost hope that it ever would, just never told anyone.

The wolf was however, thankful that Vanessa had not started going around looking for husband number five. Claire would hate to have to explain why a man showed up at the hospital with part of him missing, because it wouldn't have been that hard for Evelyn to link that back to the wolf. "I'm sure you will find someone, you are way to sweet a person to be alone in this world." Claire hoped to cheer the woman up a bit, because she didn't like seeing the human woman sad or down.

When they got to the apartment complex, Claire pulled out her keys and led Vanessa to the apartment that she shared with Oliver. "Oliver picked it out, it's nothing fancy, but it's home." Claire shrugged and walked up the flight of stairs to the door. The wolf wasn't even sure what all this place had, as most of her time was spent at the school and not here at home.

Once at her door, Claire unlocked it and pushed the door open, holding it so that Vanessa could enter in first. The lights were motion censored so that way they didn't have to worry about turning things on and off it was all on a timer and motion. "Make your self at home." She smiled as she stepped in behind Vanessa.

The apartment was filled with many neutral colors, excluding the couch which was black. There wasn't anything up on the walls, but there was a television, and some book cases. There just wasn't much there because neither one of them was ever home, if anything it looked as though no one really lived there. "Did you want me to put the wine in the fridge or would you like a glass now?" Claire asked as she walked over to the open kitchen and set down her keys. She wanted to get started on dinner as soon as possible so that Vanessa would be stuck waiting long.

"I don't think you are, you are too good a person to spend the rest of your life alone." Claire meant that, she just knew deep within that Vanessa would not be alone, there was something special about her. If anything Claire was determined to find someone that would treat Vanessa like the princess... no queen that she deserved to be treated like. God help the soul that even dared to harm Vanessa here, Claire would rip them apart.

"Thank you, we haven't done much with it, neither of us really stay here with work and all that." She explained as she washed her hands up to start cooking. Before she could do that though she grabbed a glass for wine and opened the bottle that Vanessa had brought with her and poured her a glass. She then placed the bottle in the fridge and brought the glass over to her. "Here you go." She smiled as she stood behind Vanessa off to the side and leaned over so that Vanessa could take the glass.

This left Claire's head next to Vanessa's and the wolf in her breathed in the scent and without even realizing it the wolf nuzzled the woman's neck softly.

Vanessa smelt like heavy, and it had nothing to do with any perfumes or body was but her natural scent. It was hard to be so close to Vanessa, and while Claire prided herself on control, at that moment she had none. Her lip brushed over the doctor's neck softly, as her free hand came up and softly turned Vanessa's head then locked lips with the woman again, this time in a more passionate kiss then she had back at the nurse's station.

The wolf in her wanted the woman, no no want wasn't enough off a word it was like it needed, the wolf in her needed Vanessa.

Vanessa's scent was like a drug to Claire, the more of it she took in the more she wanted, and that was something that Claire had never experienced before. It made it easy for the wolf in her to get it's way because Vanessa made it hard to think straight, especially when she was pulled closer. The wolf's hand slipped into Vanessa's hair and continued to kiss the woman with a deep passion.

In her head Claire was screaming at herself to stop, because she could easily hurt Vanessa without meaning to, but she couldn't. Instead Claire moved her hands to Vanessa's sides and with little effort at all she lifted the nurse off her feet and held her up with her hands on the back of Vanessa's legs.

Claire was in a deep desire of want and it was clouding her better judgement as she carried Vanessa over to the couch and laid her down, so that Claire was on top. With them laying down, Claire's hands began to run over Vanessa's body and unintentionally she let out an animalistic groan. That sound caused Claire to sort of snap out of her haze a bit to realize that she was making out heavily with the doctor, but wasn't enough to stop her. If anything it caused Claire to soften the kiss a bit more, so that she could enjoy it more.

Claire felt her heart start to race when Vanessa's lips kissed along the wolf's jaw and neck. It made Claire feel like she was in heaven and want to rip off Vanessa's clothes but it would appear that Vanessa had the same idea. Claire quickly tossed the jacket aside once it came off, there was no reason to let it get in their way. Claire felt her skin tingle as Vanessa's hands moved up the wolf's body, taking the shirt with it.

It had been awhile since Claire had even gotten this close to having sex, and normally wouldn't have gone this far, this fast but the wolf couldn't help it. Vanessa was like a drug and Claire wanted more, and kissed Vanessa passionately once their lips met again.

The wolf's hands moved over Vanessa's thighs and began to push up the dress that Vanessa was wearing. Her hands shook a bit with this feeling of anticipation of seeing Vanessa without close on, but it was something that could easily go unnoticed. The tug of her hair made Claire let out a lustful growl against Vanessa's lips, and found it rather enjoyable that Vanessa was being rough then again, Claire could be rough by nature.

Claire broke away from the kiss and let her lips trace over Vanessa's jaw as her hands pushed the dress up more, only to stop as this twinge of pain hit Claire's stomach. This caused Claire to pull back, this look of pain hitting her like a ton of bricks. It felt like the wolf in her was trying desperately to get out, but it shouldn't have been able to not with the necklace.

Another sharp pain hit the wolf again, this time causing her to fall off the couch, grabbing hold of her stomach. She laid on her side for a moment, before her body jerked, and she made a pain filled sound that put Claire on her back. This wasn't good, she was about to change, and that couldn't happen, not here, not with Vanessa.

Claire pulled herself away from the couch, as she muffled the sounds of pain that she was in. It was only painful because she was struggling to keep the wolf in, to keep control of her body. She gritted her teeth as she made it onto her hands and knees. "You... you ha...have to go." Claire spoke in pain trying hard to control herself, but it wasn't easy as another pain ran through her and a loud cracking sound was heard.

That was when Claire realized that there wasn't enough time for Vanessa to leave, so instead she pushed herself up and stumbled a bit as she ran for the door. The wolf was ready to come out and it wanted out that very moment, and to protect Vanessa, Claire had to leave even if it meant hurting the doctor emotionally.

Claire got herself as far away from Vanessa as possible, the last thing she wanted was for her wolf to scratch the woman, that wasn't the way to find out about supernaturals.
