Evelyn never came to these events, not since before she was Dean and then she had stood off to the side with Victor, brushing off all the men that asked her to dance. Now a days she simply overlooked the decorations and made sure everything was perfect and the food was done well and there were no problems before she would go home and curl up with a good book and read. She didn’t understand Halloween, it had not existed in her time and she did not see the wonder of dressing up and getting free candy; the traditional All Hallows Eve was just a joke now as humans mocked the inhuman creatures that they dressed up as. But with all the madness that had been happening lately she felt it would be in her favor too be a chaperone of sorts. She had guard’s yes but she had told them to pay more attention outside then inside, she felt that’s where more things could go wrong.

She had picked a [Only admins are allowed to see this link] that had striked her fancy and a silver mask that covered across her eyes. She didn’t mingle with anyone, simply stood off to the side and watched the crowd of dancing figurines and chatting. As she stood there however some movement in the corner caught her eye and she turned to see a child, a young boy are probably eight, standing alone looking around. Immediately Evelyn could only think of one thing: a child all alone, especially a boy, who was looking about as he was was obviously trying to start trouble. Where were his parents? People were so irresponsible to just let their children wander off and do as they pleased. She sighed and strode over to him “Boy, what are you doing?” She asked firmly, giving him a look behind her mask. The boy looked at her and frowned “I lost my mom” He all but whimpered and the fierceness left her.

She frowned some and kneeled down carefully so she was eye level with him “Where did you last see her?” She asked and he pointed off in a wide direction and she smiled some. Typical children. “Well, what is her name?” She asked next and he fidgeted “Bridget” He replied softly “And what is your last name?” “Matthews”. Bridget Matthews…she knew the woman, she was one of staff members She worked as a English professor. “It just so happens that I know your mother. She works for me. I’m the Dean here. That’s sort of like…a President, in a way”. The boy’s eyes brightened and he gasped “You’re the Vampire lady!” He exclaimed and pointed at her and Evelyn laughed, shushing him gently. Bridget was a witch, though she didn’t know how she felt that the boy only knew her as the Vampire lady, but that was by far the issue here. “Yes, yes, but you must keep that a secret. Do you want me to help you find your mother?” She asked but he pouted and shook his head “She told me if I get lost, I have to stay where I am”. Evelyn nodded and gave him a gentle smile, removing her mask “Well then, I will stay with you until she finds you”

He stared at her for a while before blurting out with a smile “Can I see your fangs?!”. Evelyn looked surprised but then chuckled. He was a boy…how they loved the weird and grotesque. She glanced around then turned back to him, putting a hand up to the side of her mouth to block it from the crowd then opened her mouth and let her fangs slide into view. His eyes widened “Whoa!” His reaction was priceless, he looked like he just found gold. Hesitantly he reached out and poked one then snatched his hand back and giggled “That’s so cool!!” He said with enthusiasm which made Evelyn laugh and close her mouth, dropping her hand “Yes, they can be cool, but they are also dangerous. You must always mind a Vampire. Not all of them are good” She told him with a sight look and he grinned “But you’re a good Vampire…and your pretty” He declared it as if he was absolutely certain and Evelyn glanced down for a moment with a frown then back to him “I try to be” She gave him an amused look “And thank you. You are very dashing in your suit yourself” Which made him grow bashful.

“Robbie!” A woman’s voice came from the crowd and both Evelyn and the boy turned to see a woman coming towards them “Robbie I was looking everywhere for-Oh. Dean Varrow” The woman stopped as she came to them and Evelyn stood, nodding to her “Mrs. Matthews”. The woman kneeled down to look over the boy and scold him before looking back to Evelyn “I apologize if he caused any trouble. My husband isn’t here tonight and I needed to go to the ladies room and I told him to stand right outside the door but he walked off and-“ Evelyn put a hand up and gave her a polite smile “It is quite alright, he caused no trouble. He was a complete gentleman and did what you asked in this type of situation” She smiled down at the boy and he smiled back. Bridget nodded “Thank you, Dean Varrow. Come Robbie, let us not bother her any longer” She told him and took his hand. Evelyn gently touched the top of his head “Have a good Halloween, Robert” She said as the pair walked away. He waved to her goodbye “Happy Halloween, Vampire Lady!” His mother turned to him and started scolding him for it as they walked away, but only Evelyn did was chuckle.

Freya didn’t know why she had come here; it wasn’t like she was even a part of the school yet. She was still testing waters with one of the art professors but here she was. Maybe… okay it had everything to do with the fact that Evelyn was here. Ever since she had witnessed the woman nearly choke Zeus to death she had been trying to keep an eye on the vampire. It wasn’t the smothering kind where Freya was everywhere that Evelyn was, but this was a big enough event, Freya thought that maybe she could help should things go south. Sure, it wasn’t her place to watch over the dean, she had guards for that, but knowing Evelyn, the vampire would keep them at a distance.

So, Freya decided it may not be a bad idea to come to this little party and with a mask it should have been easy enough to blend in like she actually belonged there.

After spending an afternoon trying to find a dress, Freya got frustrated and ditched the dress idea and opted for a suit instead. She went old school, black slacks, white button up shirt, black tie with matching black jacket. It formed her body nicely and it made styling her hair simple, she just slicked it back. The [Only admins are allowed to see this link] she wore wasn’t even all that attention grabbing, after all the fae wanted to blend in and not stick out.

Upon walking into the ball, Freya tucked at the suit she was wearing gently, making sure that it looked presentable. She had already spotted Evelyn in the distance, talking to a young boy with a smile on her face and that caused the fae to smile. Though, there was a small bit of sadness deep within, because well Freya had only ever wanted to make Evelyn smile like that. The feline fae put that out of her mind though as she dropped her hands and walked into the mingling crowd of people. This was so not where she needed to be tonight, she should have opted to stay home. The crowd and music just brought her back to a place where her head didn’t need to be right now. What she really wanted now was a stiff drink but she needed to refrain from such things in case Evelyn… no, she needed to stop thinking like that. Freya needed to refrain from drinking so she didn’t end up in another drunken haze.

Letting go of a slight sigh the fae found her way over to the corner of the room. Every now and then her eyes would wander back to Evelyn’s direction as she tended to the boy. The fae couldn’t help but to notice how absolutely stunning Evelyn looked in that dress, it made it hard for Freya to be able to stay away that was for sure. It wasn’t until the young boy had been carted away by whom Freya could only assume was the mom that she got the courage to walk over to the woman. Of course by time the fae got close the music had made a change to something a little slower, and well with the kind of music playing it was only natural or so Freya thought to offer up a dance.

The fae’s hand came up slightly ”May I have this dance?” She asked in a calm polite manner. Freya was certain that Evelyn would say no, after all she was sure Evelyn had lots of work to be doing, but with everyone else grabbing a partner, Freya thought it suiting to at least ask.

She felt someone approach her but didn’t pay them much mind as she watched Robbie walk away with his mother, she assumed it was simply just someone walked by. But when they stopped and asked to dance she sighed impatiently and began turning to them. Who would seriously ask her to dance? Probably some cheeky staff member who thought this was there version of a joke “I am sorry but I am not here to-“ She stopped as she looked at their face and matched it with the voice and realized who it was. She was amazed, she didn’t think a fancy crowded room like this would be Freya’s cup of tea at all. “Freya” She said her name in surprise and turned to face her better “I didn’t expect to see you here”

She looked her over and even though she didn’t realize it, she was admiring her appearance. She looked at her hand and hesitated for a moment but then seemed to resign to her policy of not having any drop of fun what’s so ever and nodded, taking her hand after slipping her mask back on “I would love too, thank you” No one would pay them any mind, right? Just two people dancing, everyone else was occupied with their own enjoyment. She looked her over once more “You look very…” She smiled a bit “Different. It is nice to see” She didn’t think Freya could look so eye-catching but, she did.

Freya had honestly expected the brush off, so when Evelyn started to speak it didn't really surprise the fae. Though when the vampires words cut off for a moment she couldn't help but to be a little bit intrigued. It seemed to baffle the vampire a little that Freya was here at all, and not that the fae could blame her after all this wasn't really anything the fae would normally attend. She gave a slight nod once Evelyn spoke her name and smiled lightly with a shrug. "With everything that has happened, figured a friendly face in the crowd couldn't hurt." She replied, not hinting at anything in particular.

The fae's fingers gently wrapped around Evelyn's hands as she smiled. Now Freya just hoped she didn't make a total ass out of herself. She had done some dancing in the past so it was really just about remembering the steps. "It's my pleasure." She smiled as she walked with Evelyn towards where everyone was dancing. Seeing as the music was already playing, Freya didn't bow or anything she simply placed a hand softly upon Evelyn's waist as she still held the woman's hand. The fae figured there was no sense in dancing like a bunch of teenagers who were forced to slow dance with one another, mine as well make it something elegant to go with the theme of this little party.

Freya couldn't help but to blush slightly at Evelyn's compliment as it had been most unexpected. "Thank you. I tried putting on a dress but now I am glad that I didn't. I would look nearly as amazing as you do." She was flirting maybe just a little bit, but really could anyone blame her? Evelyn looked amazing anyone should be so lucky to be this close to her. Seeing as Freya had been the one to ask for the dance she took the lead with soft, slow fluid movements. It had been a while since she had danced like this, but it would see like she had been doing it all her life.

She smiled a bit thinly and glanced down at the mask in her hands, chuckling lowly before back up to her “You’re checking up on me to make sure I don’t harm anyone” She told her knowingly, raising a brow. Normally this would have upset her but she supposed she couldn’t blame Freya, she had seen Evelyn’s temper in such a short span of time compared to other people that never saw her blow up as she did, she couldn’t blame Freya for thinking Evelyn was a runaway train that had no control…it just hadn’t been a good month. “I can assure you that I am simply here to keep an eye on things, not eat to anyone” Her tone held the softest hint of amusement.

When Freya’s hand enclosed over hers she sucked in a breath, feeling a shiver go down her spine that puzzled her. She was simply being polite in accepting her request to dance, so why was she acting…odd? She followed her into the crowd of dancing couples and Evelyn could tell who were the humans and who were the inhumans that had age under their belts, the differences between the level of dancing was quite stark. But the youth these days, didn’t bother to even learn a basic ballroom dance. Evelyn had lived through many eras and had danced through them all, she fancied herself a good dancer but hadn’t danced in years, so she supposed she would be a bit rusty. She gave Freya an impressed look when she took the proper starting position. Well…she obviously knew a least a few things about proper dance, not like the human hooligans.

She shook her head “A dress would not suit you” No, she couldn’t see Freya in a dress. What she was wearing now yes, it fit her personality perfectly…and made her look very good. Though Evelyn wasn’t paying attention to that, of course not. She chuckled a bit at her compliment “I would hardly say I look amazing” She corrected. She looked her over as they danced and smirked some “You are not too bad at this. You have ballroom danced before?” She didn’t mean to sound a bit doubtful but she just couldn’t see it, but people could surprise you, especially Freya it seemed.

Freya got a look on her face that showed that she had been called out. She knew Evelyn was smart enough to figure out the truth but what she stated earlier hadn't been a complete lie. "Was I that obvious?" She sort of chuckled, it was a question that didn't really need an answer more like an admitting guilt. "And have a little fun too... I would hope." She paused for a moment, because she wasn't even sure if this was Evelyn's idea of fun it surely wasn't Freya's. still she was here and would make the best out of the situation.

As far as the dancing, one did not live through the ball room era and not pick up a thing or two. Even just watching people dance back then could teach someone the moves. The fae had also used it as a way or tricking women back then, but that need not be said out loud. Instead Freya just continued to dance slightly hoping to impress the vampire with some of Freya's more refined ways.

"Ya, me and dresses were never one to mix." She admitted with a laugh as she kept counting steps in her head. Those dances back then were simple all in steps of one two three now a days it got more confusing as dancing evolved. "Evelyn you look positively beautiful, and I'm honored that you'd even dance with me looking as radiant as you do." The fae spoke from the heart and she was speaking the truth. Evelyn had an elegance about her that was rarely seen these days.

"I'm six hundred and sixty six years old, if I didn't know ball room dancing I'd be concerned." She smiled lightly with a bit of a chuckle "But truth be told, I did have some formal practice growing up." She added because back then dancing was her was of causing trouble and it worked much like tagging did today. "But I must I have a lovely partner to dance with and that helps." She complimented. Okay Freya was trying to be a little charming, flirtatious even but with as stunning as Evelyn looked it was hard not too.

She just kept giving her the look and nodded subtly. Oh yes, it was pretty obvious, she could tell Freya had been watching her more closely after her little run in with Zeus (ok, big run in…) and felt a little, rubbed the wrong way if one will that Freya must see her as some rampaging Godzilla. She knew deep down Freya as the cat had seen many sides of her for a long time but all she really knew was this Freya, the human counterpart and that side seemed to only see Evelyn absolutely pissed off. She didn’t know why that would bother her, it shouldn’t, but for some reason she seemed to care about Freya’s opinion of her…if it wasn’t already obvious. Zeus was alive, wasn’t he?

She was indeed impressed and it showed. She knew Freya had age to her but she had always seen her as someone who blended in far too easily with the current age of young adults that it was quite easy to forget she was an old fae. In fact she had seen Freya quite as that, just another young student who partied and broke rules and dressed like teenagers dressed now a days but seeing her like this…made Evelyn see a different side that she rather liked. Someone mature and collected and who acted the age of being over six hundred years old. She rather liked it…very much. When she complimented her again Evelyn glanced down for a moment and, dare anyone say it, actually looked bashful for once in her life. “Thank you” She murmured, seeming to compose herself rather quickly and look back up to meet Freya’s gaze.

She tilted her head “Really?” Another thing she couldn’t imagine, Freya actually practicing ballroom dance on her freewill. She was one surprise after the other. “Well, you are quite good at it” The next compliment, well, if it had been anyone else Evelyn would have told them straight forward that they shouldn’t waste their breath with their half assed pickup lines because she didn’t care for them. But with Freya…she did have a charm about her and a honesty to the words she spoke that Evelyn liked hearing it. Though she would say she had no remnants of her past self, as a young woman Evelyn had been quite the little peacock, who had loved to have all the attention on her at all times. And deep down, that young girl still had a small spark left that preened to be given compliments on her beauty. “Are you always this charming to others?” She teased lightly.

If Evelyn only knew how Freya truly thought about the vampire, well things may be different between them. The fae didn't see some raging monster before her, she never had in fact is all she ever saw was that kind compassionate being that Evelyn could be. For years she stood by as Evelyn kept her temper in check, for fear of stepping to far over that edge. Actually seeing Evelyn get made gave the fae some hope, if the woman could feel anger surely she was capable of feeling love as well. Sure, she had been watching the dean from a distance, making sure she didn't step over a line that could not be uncrossed, but she was also watching because now she could. The Fae's secret was out and now she didn't have to hide between four paws and a tale to get a passing glance at the dean. So yes, she watched, admired, and a small part of her hoped that one day things would change and Evelyn would find happiness even if it wasn't with the fae. Surely it would crush Freya but she was sure the pain would last only a little while before she got over it.

After seeing the bashful nature that took over the dean if only for the moment, Freya smiled and resisted the urge to stop the dance. That was something that Freya would hold on to for awhile, because it let the fae know there was still some hope. "You're most welcome." She replied with a kind nod.

"I am surprised I'm not stepping on your toes, it's been a long time since I've done this." She couldn't recall the last time she had dances like this with anyone. Must have been when she was around the age that Evelyn was now. Still the fae was glad she was impressing the vampire, not that it would likely change things, but she was still glad that Evelyn got to see a not so defiant side of the fae.

When asked if she was always this charming Freya gave a slight shrug, as not to interfere with the dance and shake of her head. "Never had a reason to charm anyone, at least not until I met you." She was honest, most women back then didn't need much charming. A kind compliment and a little attention went a long way when one thought Freya was a man. This was different though, because Freya wasn't trying to get Evelyn into bed, at least not tonight. No the fae had come here with pure intentions if only to make sure the dean had some fun and no one got hurt in the process. "I am not even trying to charm you, just wanted you to see you smile, a real smile, if only for a moment. Though I do believe that someone as beautiful deserves to smile more often. Smiles suit you well Evelyn Varrows, very well indeed."

She shook her head “You are doing wonderful. Do not worry” Far, far better than anyone born in the past fifty years that was for sure and didn’t want her to think she was rusty, she was doing well. “I haven’t danced in ages myself so, do not feel bad” And even when she did dance before being Dean it hadn’t been often, a few dances with Victor and Nowe but that was it. And surprisingly dancing with Freya she was…relaxed. Not a hundred percent, nothing would ever get her fully relaxed but she didn’t feel like she had to be fake with Freya. Every other staff member she had to put on a friendly front or put on her mean Dean face or kiss up to parents and with Freya she didn’t need to worry about what she said or did. Even infront of Nowe who she considered a very good friend she still tried to act strong and stern…Freya she realized with surprise was someone she didn’t put up an act with.

“And so honest…” There was a soft sigh to her voice. It didn’t make her uncomfortable for Freya to say such things…ok, a little uncomfortable but more so she just didn’t know what her reaction should be. She had faced many scenarios and learned how to handle almost every situation but not such compliments. Normally she just snapped, but she didn’t feel right doing that to her so what else was she supposed to do? She smiled softly even as she spoke “I do not smile much anymore, that is true” She hadn’t smiled much since she was eighteen years old, and that was a very long time to feel miserable and not have true reasons to smile. “I however do not have many reasons to smile. I love the school but, it is hardly a colorful and joyous job”

Freya could tell that beneath it all Evelyn was enjoying the dance even if it was only a little but didn't comment. Instead she kept dancing, hoping it would simply help have some sort of happiness for the moment. "Your secret is safe with me." She smiled lightly, no one would have to know that their dance was a bit rusty, but then again people probably weren't even paying attention, and why would they?

"I am only being honest because I don't want to hide anymore." She spoke softly, Freya was tired of being a lot of things actually. Six hundred years of being a pet took a toll on a person and now, well now Freya had something to live for instead of against. It was a strange feeling knowing she could never go back to the life as a pet but she truly could not. She wanted to prove, if only to Evelyn, that she could be and was a decent person. "It may be an unrealistic goal, but I do plan on changing that. You deserve to have every reason to smile." She added because Freya would go to extreme levels to make sure that Evelyn had something or someone in her life that brought some sort of not back into those eyes. "I will find a way to make you feel happiness again, until my dying wish I promise you that much." Freya didn't know how she would do it but she would, her mind was set and once that happened there was so changing it.

Even with their supposed rustiness, they were still dancing far better than the young couples around them that only held each other and shuffle their feet back and forth. Evelyn was just glad it was a masquerade ball so no one could really tell who anyone was, for if it hadn’t been then she was certain all eyes would have been glued to her and Freya dancing…because the students wouldn’t have thought it possible for the Dean to do anything as remotely human as dancing. She was seen as the cold steeled robot and robots did not dance…and they especially did not dance so eloquently with another woman either.

“And I…I can fully appreciate, you not wanting to hide” But why did it have to be her that was the object of her affections? She still didn’t understand though Freya had tried to explain it. Why would someone bother to stay in love with her and not move on when it was obvious she was as open to love as a nun was open to orgies. She really should better speak to her about it, tell her that she needed to let go of her feelings for her somehow and understand they would never be. And as she was gathering herself to make this speech that she was certain would not be comfortable for either of them, Freya spoke first the promise she made and Evelyn’s mind just…went blank. She stopped dancing and didn’t even realize that she had, but she just found herself staring at Freya with a look of wonderment and surprise. No one had ever made such a promise to her in her entire life; to say the Dean was dumbfounded was an absolute understatement. She was speechless, and Evelyn always had something to say. Her eyes just gazed into hers, searching them quietly and it just hit her in a way that if she breathed it would have knocked her breathless. She obviously knew it already but it had actually never sunk in until now. Freya really did love her.

Freya would not even know how to begin explaining why she had fallen in love with Evelyn but the again did anyone really ever know why they fell in love with anyone? It being the first time that Freya ever felt anything like this she hardly knew how to act, or who to be. It was a mixture of things in her head and when it all boiled down to it, Freya just decided to not be anything but the human she could be and not the trickster fae she normally was. Much to Freya surprise it seemed that it was something she should have started doing long ago, maybe then they could have skipped the fighting before it started. Everything happened for a reason though, and maybe it was best that Evelyn saw the worst in Freya before seeing some of the best.

As soon as Evelyn had stopped dancing, Freya did as well but for a moment her hands didn't move or rather it was almost as though they couldn't. Gazing into Evelyn's eyes, Freya was almost afraid to blink, like it would strip this moment away, and for a moment the fae thought of leaning in to steal a kiss but she didn't. Not in front of the students and facility, was what she had told herself. If Evelyn wanted it then fine but Freya had come to far to make such a display in public and potentially ruin it all. So, instead she removed her hand from the Dean's waist respectfully but did not let to of her hand and turned slightly. "We should get you off the dance floor before people start to stare." She spoke softly with a soft tug at the woman's arm as if to say come on.

Freya knew she had just given up a chance to kiss Evelyn, especially seeing as the dean was left speechless but there was no point in ruining that silence with anger. So yes Freya let it go as a sign of respect for Evelyn's position but also as a way to prove she would always have Evelyn's best interest at heart.

Evelyn didn’t move as they stared at one another, knowing that she should be doing something right now but she couldn’t seem to quite function. Saying something or at least moving instead of them just standing in the middle of everyone else dancing but Freya just shocked her. Just no one had spoken to her like that before and although she usually pulled stuff out of her ass even when she was shocked she couldn’t seem to do that now. People did begin to glance over curiously at them, but luckily no one’s first assumption was the blonde woman in the form fitting dress was the Dean or else concerned staff members would have rushed over to see what in the hell was wrong with her just standing like that, as if she had been frozen or something.

When Freya spoke Evelyn blinked and suddenly felt like the biggest, most idiotic moron in the world for just standing there like a brainless mute. What in the world had gotten into her? She never behaved like this! She was angry at herself for behaving out of the normal square box her personality was used too, but she let Freya move her away and off to the side. She sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of her nose, a stressful tick she had. Her eyes closed shut for a moment as she took in a breath “I apologize” She told her “I…” Was taken off guard? Was not expecting you to say that? Think you are a lunatic? Think I am losing my mind? There were many, many ways her brain felt like finishing that sentence but she simply said “I didn’t mean to do that” She lowered her hand and opened her eyes again to look at her but then feared she would just freeze again so, she did the next best tactic. Go into Dean mode “Excuse me, I have to go check on something” And then she started to walk away. What she needed was air…lots of air. At least to leave the great hall and try to recompose out in the hall.

Freya had no intentions on making Evelyn feel bad about her reaction, instead she had every intention on just brushing it off. Sure, it wasn't every day that Evelyn was silenced by anything but Freya found it best to no make it an issue, but Evelyn was already doing so as soon as she found words again that was. "You did nothing wrong." Freya tried to explain, but that was probably falling upon deaf ears at the moment, not that Freya could blame her.

Even though everyone had gone back to what they were doing, it seemed as though Evelyn still felt the need to put up a front. That bothered Freya a bit because it wasn't like anyone there really cared that Evelyn had gone silent hell no one knew who they were. For the slightest of moments, Freya thought about just letting Evelyn go off on her own to calm down, but something in her gut told the fae to follow after Evelyn so Freya did.

"Evelyn! Wait!" She called out as they got into the halls away from the music and the people. "I'm sorry." She spoke as she reached up and removed the mask from her face and held it in her hands. "This wasn't the time or the place and I apologize. If you'd like I can go, and you can stay and enjoy yourself, or whatever." She added before dropping her gaze to the floor. Freya felt like she had fucked up again and she had tried so hard not to. "Don't run off because of me, please, just go back and act like I was never here." She added before turning and slowly walking in the other direction. This had been a stupid idea.

She went out the doors and into the hall, stopping for a moment to cover her face and make a sound that was half sigh and half groan. Why did Freya do this to her?! She wanted to be angry but knew somehow she didn’t mean to say those things intentionally but…it drove her crazy in ways she couldn’t even explain. When she heard her call out her name she didn’t turn to her, just waited for her to come to her and…wait. Evelyn’s head snapped up and she stared down the hallway oddly. There was absolutely no one out here, not a single soul. That was highly suspicious, because many people came out here to escape from the party, she had seen them with her own eyes, so where were they? And the hallways…something was up. They didn’t feel right. She knew this school, every single damned corner, and something right now was terribly wrong. The hallway looked the same but…something was definitely wrong.

As Freya spoke Evelyn just stared and stared and stared down the hall, trying to figure out what in the world was so different. When Freya began to walk away Evelyn stepped forward and grabbed her wrist “No. Don’t” She told her sharply, shaking her head as he eyes stayed glued down the hallway “Something’s wrong. It feels different out here. I need too-“ She turned around to go back to the doors that lead into the great hall…but they weren’t there anymore, just a wall. Evelyn stared for a moment then quickly moved forward and put her hands up against the wall where the doors were supposed to be “What in God’s name” She whispered in shock, pressing against the wall with her hands before turning her head to look at Freya with wide eyes. Oh yes…something was not right indeed.

When it came to gut feelings, Freya needed to learn to be more in-tune, especially tonight, but she has been so wrapped up in trying to impress Evelyn she had neglected to realize her surroundings. Which she would have spent a long time blissfully unaware of had Evelyn not grabbed Freya by the wrist and told her to stop. It was only then that Freya realized why the sounds of people and music had stopped, because the doorway was gone.

Looking around, Freya tried to figure out what the hell was going on, more importantly she tried to use her ability to get the fuck out... That wasn't working either. "Fucking Halloween." She muttered because something always went wrong it seemed. Fae loved this time if year, well most fae anyways. It was that one time of year where they could pull pranks and people would talk about it days later like it was some awesome new adventure.

"Would seem like a fae has decided to take over the halls of the school, like some twisted haunted house." Freya was irritated, because she had made an ass out of herself and now the hall were playing games like some sort of Harry potter fucked up joke. "We should probably stick together, no telling if we will find one another if we separate." She added. This was just great, because there was no telling how long the two would be trapped here and Freya had just made an ass out of herself so ya, this should be fun.

A fae pulling a Halloween prank…Evelyn could only hope so but, something about the whole situation was sinister…not to mention would take a lot of power and she couldn’t name any fae at the school off the top of her head that could do this. Some could make illusions but….she didn’t know. Something was terribly wrong here. She nodded as she stared where the door used to be and turned back to Freya “Let’s get outside” She said and started walking down the hall. Evelyn was in full-fledged Dean mode, she couldn’t even think right now the rather awkward situation that had just happened inside the great hall between her and Freya. They needed to get out first, then Evelyn would have to face that wonderful conversation.

They got halfway down the hall before she stopped and looked even more flabbergasted “There’s supposed to be a hall here that goes to the left. Towards the front of the school” Towards the damned exit. She looked all around and at the walls and shook her head, pointing “Those paintings do not belong in this hall, but upstairs” She then looked down the right hallway and sighed “And this hallway does not go this far down, it is meant to have a dead end…” She ran a hand through her hair stressfully “It’s like…some sort of maze or something…” Who was doing this? And why? To her it seemed a bit farfetched of a Halloween trick but with the people at this school who even knew. Suddenly a piercing scream echoed through the hallways and Evelyn’s eyes widened, looking around trying to pinpoint where the sound came from but it seemed to be coming from everywhere. “Dear God”

The Cheshire fae was less than a happy camper at this particular moment if only because once again her abilities were not working. It was like some sick and twisted sort of fate that once again, she could leave the awkward situation that the fae only had herself to blame for. Still, she tried to keep grumbling to a minimum and stay as close to Evelyn as possible so that the pair did not end up getting separated. The last thing they needed was to try and find their way out or back alone.

As Evelyn started walking, Freya followed staying close as they began to wander the halls. While the feline knew this place, she knew that she didn't know it nearly as well as the Dean. "Getting outside is hardly going to be easy." She told the other, because Freya knew that when a fae was playing their little games it was not one easily seen through. Point and case, Freya had been a cat to the dean for over 200 years and never was even suspected.

"We just need to stay calm, the more worked up we get, the harder it will be for use to find our way out." Freya tried to explain, but seeing as she didn't know what sort of fae was taking over these halls made it hard to judge what they should be doing. "That's probably their point, to make things as confusing as possible, so people can't get out." She added as the dean seemed in a state of shock over how this was being done. Freya was more concerned with who was doing it because some fae did this just to create a trap to....

The fae hands went up to her highly sensitive ears as the scream echoed through the halls and vibrated her ear drums. She made a small groaning sound as she dropped to her knees. That scream was horrible and loud and it was causing the fae much pain and she wanted it to stop. It also confirmed that this was no party trick that was meant to be fun. Great, now not only did they have to worry about finding their way out, they had to worry about not getting killed in the process. "Stay away from the walls." She spoke as she waited for the ringing in her ears to subside, if only the screaming would stop.

Evelyn wanted to stay calm and she was doing fairly well, but she was very concerned about this situation. All the people she had seen come out here into the hallway were now somewhere within this maze…how would she explain this to the humans? What if someone got hurt? Questions were certainly going to be raised about this and it frustrated her that she would have to control the mess …as soon as she could figure out how to get out. Why would anyone want to do this? After she chewed out Jericho about accidently raising the hellhounds one would think people would learn that magic like this should not be used or they were going to get their ass kicked severely. And this wasn’t some amateur trick either, someone with great power conjured this up and it didn’t fit the profile of the far older fae to do this as a joke, things just weren’t adding up.

Evelyn’s eyes snapped to Freya and she quickly kneeled beside her “Are you alright?!” The scream was horrifying, it sounded like someone was being torn to pieces then…nothing. The scream suddenly ended like a light being turned off and then all that was left was silence. She glanced around and felt a cold, sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. Evelyn had heard plently of screams like that before…it was the scream of someone being murdered. This was serious. This was horrifying. The maze was to trap people and whatever created it was using it to hunt people down in some shape or form, what else could explain such a scream? “We need to find our way out of here, somehow. I need to alert people at the party to not come out here and stop whatever created this” They had to figure out how to escape this maze, everyone’s safety depended on it…and now someone was most certainly already dead, who even knew how many others were as well.

The scream had pierced Freya's ears in the deepest sense, and with the cat like hearing she had it was a most unwelcome feeling. It honestly made Freya feel sick to her stomach, as well as a little dizzy and lightheaded. That was something she had heard several times in the past, but it wasn't echoed through halls like that one was. It was painful and something that Freya would rather avoid hearing again if she could help it. "I'm fine, the scream just hurt my ears is all." the fae spoke softly, though to herself it sounded like she was almost yelling.

"I know, but it won't be easy." She replied to the other, because Freya had a sinking suspicious about what was doing this and if she was right no one was safe in the halls. "You should know we may not make it back to them. No matter where we end up, whether back at the ball or outside, we can't come back in." She looked to Evelyn as she removed the hands from her ears. Her hearing was still a bit sensitive and ached but she was confident she could at least stand and walk at this point, but before she did she placed her hands on either side of Evelyn's face.

"I need you to promise me, that if we get outside you won't come rushing back in too find the ball." She was dead serious, the last thing they needed was for Evelyn to get lost in these halls. "This school can't afford to lose you and if this is halloween magic, it means it ends at midnight. You could get lost in here forever, so please, promise me, no matter what happens you won't come back in." Freya was specifically saying Evelyn alone, if only because Freya would go back in and try and find the ball should they end up outside and not the back at the ball again. It may sound stupid but Freya's life could easily be lived without, a dean was harder to replace.

Evelyn had forgotten that fae and wolves couldn’t control the level of things they heard. A Vampire could in a way mute a loud sound or enhance a soft one, it took much practice but it could be done but knew how painful it could be if you didn’t have that ability. A part of her was thankful the screaming stopped because it had been eating away at her, but another part wished it had kept going on and on…because that at least meant the person was still alive. She sighed “We have too. Either back to the great hall or outside…though outside would probably be the best option if we could get too it. My guards should all be outside” If something to this level was happening in here….she feared if something similar was happening outside as well. This gave her even more push to make it out of this maze, she needed to see if there was chaos ensuing outside as well for if it was the situation would be far worse. She started to frown “You are right about one thing. We won’t. I will”

She went very still when Freya’s hands were placed on her face and she gazed at her as she spoke even though she wanted to look away. She sighed “Freya, I can’t promise that. If I am needed than I won’t just sit back and let other’s take charge” Although she could assume her guard’s would be telling her the same thing if she got to them, that she had to go lock herself in her house and stay out of the way until the coast was clear. But if this maze wasn’t the only thing happening tonight then all help possible would have to be given, so if she needed to come back in here and help the people at the ball get out she would. “The school may not be able to loose me but I can also not lose all my students and staff. If this does end at midnight and they do have the risk of being trapped then I will make sure they get out if I can”

The fae knew that she was asking a lot of the dean, she really did, but she also knew that Evelyn getting lost in here was not a good thing. Freya stood a chance of finding her way out of this mess if it did indeed end at midnight. Evelyn on the other hand would likely just become a fae's favorite toy or meal, and Freya was not having that. "Damn it Evelyn I'm serious." She replied, because really only a fellow fae knew how dangerous another fae's magic could be.

"My teleporting is.." Freya stopped talking and her hands dropped from the dean's face and moved to her stomach. The fae suddenly wasn't feeling all that great, a sharp pain had rushed through her stomach. She jerked a bit, as she felt something going wrong, it was as if something was trying to take control of her but why?

'Naughty naughty fae.' Freya heard and it caused her to look around with her eyes, unsure if Evelyn heard it too. That was followed by an awful sounding crack in Freya's back that caused her to sit straight up with her head back. It was extremely painful, and reminded her of the less the pleasant feeling of the first time that she had used her glamour capabilities. The fae was too busy with the feeling of pain that she failed to notice that she was starting to take her natural form.

The fae gritted her teeth as she tried hard to resist what was ever happening to her, but the harder she fought against it, the more pain she felt. Whatever it was, didn't like the fact that Freya had so much will to fight their magic, so it caused a distraction by tossing the fae at the wall. That brief moment of impact was enough to cause Freya to lose focus, and as she hit the ground she was in her feline form.

Pushing up on her paws the fae shook it's head as she regained her sense. This wasn't good, at least not Freya. Now they couldn't communicate, which only made this situation more dangerous in Freya's eyes. 'Thats better, now run along little kitty.' Freya heard again and it caused her ears to lower. She was one pissed off feline, and now wanted nothing more than to dig her claws into whoever this was.

“And I am as well” She retorted and so could not believe the two of them were on the verge of a argument in the middle of all this. They did not have time to go back and forth on such a silly subject, they needed to start moving. She was about to tell her so when she saw her grab her stomach and her brow furrowed “Freya?” She asked with concern, touching her shoulder gently “What is it? What’s wrong?” This couldn’t be good, not with what was happening around them for Freya to not be feeling well…when the crack came Evelyn gasped in horror and put a hand on her back, looking her over in panic “Freya! Oh God” What was happening?! Evelyn felt at a loss, that she was suffering something and she didn’t even know what it was or what to do but try to hold her “It’s alright, it’s alright” She growled and looked around angrily. It had to be the creature controlling this maze, but why was it attacking Freya? “Leave her be!” She shouted at the empty hall, her fury building.

When Freya was suddenly tossed she cried out, quickly moving towards her “No!” She got close to her then stepped, her eyes widened as she watched Freya turn into her natural cat form. She felt mind boggled at first of why she had changed…then realized she couldn’t have done it by choice, she had been forced too. She came closer and kneeled down beside her, reaching a hand out “Are you alright?” Well, obviously she wasn’t completely alright because she was now a cat, but Evelyn didn’t want her to be injured.

Freya was not a happy fae at the moment, because she knew that right now communication was important. Now she was forced into her feline form which meant that either A) whoever was doing this saw Freya as a threat, or B) it was just another part of the magic, but seeing as Freya heard a voice she was leaning more towards A. The one thing that made this that much more unsettling was the fact that Freya now knew they were being watched, and closely and obviously couldn't tell Evelyn a thing.

The fae's attention was pulled back to Evelyn and in that moment realized that the vampire had witnessed the whole thing and was probably worried. With no real way to communicate, Freya did the only real thing she could do and that was to step closer to the woman's hand and rub up against it gently to prove that she was okay. Sure, Freya was a little sore, but who wouldn't be after getting launched at the wall?

For now, Freya knew that they needed to start moving, obviously the fae was onto something which meant they stood a chance of getting out of here. With that in mind, Freya would be paying more attention to their surroundings, because if she had her suspicious right, the closer they got to freedom the more challenges they would face.

Turning away from the dean, Freya used a motion of her head to get the dean to follow. They had to keep moving, if only because it would keep whatever this thing was occupied. Surely Freya had caught its attention and it would focus more on her then anyone else... or that was slightly what Freya was hoping.

When she rubbed against her hand she sighed in relief, just glad she didn’t look like anything was broken or she was in agonizing pain. “Good God, what happened?” She said in a rush of breath, knowing Freya couldn’t answer but this was turning into more madness then she had really wanted. It was bad enough they were stuck in here and had to find a way out, but now it was truly confirmed something was in here watching people and hunting them down. How long before whatever it was came after them like it had to whoever it was who had been screaming? She rubbed at her face and took in a breath, closing her eyes for a few moments before opening them again to look at Freya. When the feline nodded her head for them to start moving she nodded and stood. This…was going to be an excruciating journey.

She tried to get her bearings straight, but it was hopeless. She went to turn down one hallway for it usually lead towards the back of the school…only to see it was a dead end. There were hallways in places they shouldn’t be, dead ends, hallways that went on and on, turns leading to places that didn’t really exist…it was madly frustrating and she wasn’t bothering to hide it on her face. Maybe it was false hope, maybe there was no way to get out, they just going around in circles until whatever creature it was found them. The fact they saw no one else even though so many had come out here meant they had to be purposely kept apart or unable to see one another. But she was determined to get out, damn it, determined. As she tried to see any rhythm or reason to the halls she heard a foul growl echo around them. She stopped and looked around, stiffening then glanced down to Freya.
